If you don't see her as 'you', then go right ahead. I'm the same way. I have a LOT of characters, and, other than Kurin, I'm fine with all my characters in adult art.

That is true! BUT putting aside the opinions of the others- would it be wrong pimping your characters for commissions, for instance? People wanted to PAY to be drawn doing my fursona and I had doubts if I should agree >_<

Being a gay male I've seen so many characters being drawn with so many other characters. So it is sort of common place and such. I'm not sure from a woman's perspective, again damn that double standard, but if you feel comfortable with it.....why the heck not?

The anthro form on the other hand was made when I joined this community, and she's not that significant for me in the "conservative" way. So I am really uncertain about it

I probably wouldn't use the character as my avatar on FA and put her in adult commissions. If you're worried about other people mixing you and your character up that would make it more likely.

First and foremost, it is a fictional character, and your property. You do as you see fit with your property! If they start crossing from fiction to reality before or after the commission is done, be on your guard. (As in, they see that commission as an invitation for more, from the real you.)

That's exactly the problem with some people! They think that my fursona equals the real flesh and blood me, and if I agreed to that virtually- they might take it the wrong way and start harassing me XD

I'd just put your concerns in the description of the image may you decide to actually do it. just tell people it's a test to see how they might react. after all, it is YOUR character and you're free to do as you see fit.

As sad as it is, no matter how you see it yourself, certain commissioners and a good chunk of your watchers will still think that your sona === you, and will draw their conclusions from that. Ultimately it's up to you, but once you get that image of the character around, it may be hard to take back if you change your mind for whatever reason.

Just be selective and careful. stay in your comfort zone and if your really feeling interest then really there is no harm in it. I went through this years ago and i really dont regret doing it.

I would say: Do as your instinct tells you. If you feel uncomfortable to draw your characters and sonas in adult art, then don´t do it. If you feel like it could be an interesting experiment, you can proceed any time.
Just avoid anything that you think you could not like

The baseline is to do what you feel is right. If you don't have problems with it, go right ahead. Just keep in mind this is now a two character commission and should be paid as such. The commissioner should take on the extra cost, not yourself. Otherwise you'll be spending a lot of time for nothing. Other than that, have fun with it. :)

I would say do what you want - if you want to try adult works with her, set some guidelines and rules for what you are and are not okay with doing and also maybe add a disclaimer that you do not see her as yourself - she's a separate character you happen to use to represent yourself online. Pretty much just be mindful of your own limits and don't be afraid to say no if something crosses that. =)

For me, I have characters that are exclusive. My sheep, Soli, is in a relationship with my husband's raccoon character for example. She'd only be in adult art if it was with his raccoon and only him. My others, I'm not too picky on.

I don't much like the idea of my 'sona getting banged by randoms. I don't even like the thought of her being used as potential fap-fodder, because she's special to me, so I've yet to draw or commission any mature works despite really wanting to!) I don't want to keep mature/adult commissions to myself, because then the artist loses well earned publicity... but even if I had the mature stuff censored, if she looked good enough in any given image, then you can bet the horny furries would edit around it rofl. It's quite hilarious the extent to which I've given this thought!

While she's obviously not me (I don't have tits or ovaries, lmao!), she's a representation of my personality, aspirations, and ideals; none of which house a desire to share myself with people I'm not super close to. To do so wouldn't feel true to my character, or myself. (I'm way more adverse with the feral form, but a lot that carries over to anthro as well). Making art of my 'sona banging someone I'm dating IRL feels different, because it reflects a reality. It wouldn't feel like I'm creating a chasm between us or driving my 'sona away from me. I've considered designing other OCs almost exclusively for adult pieces, though.

If I were in your shoes, I'd do whatever feels right, most natural, or otherwise resonates with your core values. It depends on what the character means to you, how you interpret such art, if the money is more desirable, etc. Furries are a frisky bunch, and they'll pay top dollar for content of this nature! - and if the entire fandom was as selfish and uptight with their character(s) as I am... then I'd have damn near nothing to fap to LOL! XD I think it's totally fine. Nothing wrong with it, and it's kind of the norm around here anyway. The added bonus is that you get to draw a lot of your own character.

I suppose, if you wanted, I could always commission you to bang my 'sona... Since I'm equally as iffy about the idea, and was considering commissioning a mature piece from someone anyway.
Might be a good way to test the waters, but that's up to you.

I'd do it under two conditions:

1. If I'm good enough friends with the person who I'm getting the commission with. The last time I got a commission with someone I hardly knew, it wasn't even a sexual commission...and it still felt empty and meaningless. I figure I should just avoid it altogether, unless I was close friends with the person behind the other character. Of course, this also includes my fiance, who I've had a couple pics with.

2. If I felt it was in-character. Out-of-character moments are pretty jarring, and it just leads me to not caring about the situation they're in. I'd say my main character, Lance, is my fursona: he represents me, and since I'm not all that sexually active, it's rare to see him in these situations, with the only exception being rule #1 above. Out of my other 4 characters, only one of them I'd really consider sexually active, so I might be more willing to break rule #1, because at least it'd make sense to him.

In the end, it's up to how you feel about it. Those are just my personal feelings, based on my own experiences.

For my 'sona, then no. Because she's a representation of myself. If I wouldn't do it, then she wouldn't do it.

Another way of putting it is --- "When in doubt, do without."

If you're feeling awkward or unsure of it, then don't do it. Money is nice, but imagine if you did do a piece and then felt really bad afterwards. You can't ever make that go away because you'll know that the piece you created is forever out there, beyond your control. You have other characters that patrons can have their characters get together with, no?

I have a sona that I use in adult commissions (the lioness) and I allow people to include themselves with her in drawings.
I have a sona that I use in a strictly family friendly way (the monkey) and have no interest in seeing them in sexual pictures.

So I think it's all down to what you envision for your character.

Seriously, in my crackpot opinion the only important thing here is that you should do what you are comfortable with. It's not a huge moral decision with implications that are going to ruin someone else's life. Therefore your only moral concern is to avoid damaging yourself.

If you're even asking the question that suggests you're not comfortable putting Leona in commissions. If so perhaps you should listen to yourself and not do it. Or do you find the idea fun?

The "twin sister" schtick might actually work, by the way. As a talented artist it might be easy for you to come up with an alternate character quite similar to Leona for untalented fools like me but quite distinct from her as far as you're concerned. The difference could be as large as a different species, one or another of the spottycats perhaps. Or it could be as small as a bit of black on the nose and tail, a different hair style, or (being a bondage freak I must suggest) a collar she always wears.

Finally, a fun trick I use myself sometimes. If you really can't decide, flip a coin; heads you will do the commission, tails you won't. If you flip the coin and, when you see the result, you're satisfied, then obey the coin. But if you feel a shock of disappointment when you see the result, that tells you that you really wanted to go with the other choice all along- so disobey the coin and do what you wanted to do, but didn't know. :)

personally, i mostly get erotica drawn up when i'm having no real inspiration and am bored as crap--naturally i insert one of my sluttier characters, who is also my fursona, since he's kinda like "the me i can only wish i was at all. same personality, totally different lives" kinda thing :3

As someone who has always been single I personally don't mind including my personal character in adult art with others.

I am rather picky about the content of said art though.

I can certainly understand why someone with a mate would be uncomfortable with it though.

I see it as all in fun really and don't put any more meaning into it than that.

Seriously though, I've long worried about what people would think of me. And then I realized we're all a bunch of people drawing naughty animals..... there's not much reputation left to worry about.

I do frequently as long as it's someone I know, and feel good about, even if we're just mutual fans of eachothers characters, but they don't act creepy/etc when we chat a few times before.

I think the answer lies in how you have reffered to her -- as ‘your sona’ and not just ‘a character I created a few years ago’. If you've put any thought or feeling into her, even as a character, she is your “child” and what she does or what happens to her IS going to affect you in some way sooner or later.

Been cataloging my own cast of characters (seventeen) over the past few days and I realize that each character has some small bit of me inside each of them, even the “bad guys”. So consider the emotional consequences before you “pimp out” your character.

I myself have a hard time keeping a fursona. But when I do find one that at least represents a good portion of my personality, I keep them around for entertainment purposes. For instance, I have an orca-wolf fursona who, although I would classify him as rated R for violence, I would never include him in a sexual scene, because I just don't see him in that light. My bunny, my lion, and my canine, however, would totally be all for it, as apparently I have enough sexuality to put into three separate fursonas. LOL

I think it really depends on who the person is that wants the picture done. Before I got my mate, I would have been more willing to get adult art done of my sona with someone if I knew them. If it was just some random person, I would more than likely say no. I never was too keen on seeing my sonas with some random fur I dont even know. If you dont mind it, then go right ahead. I know you say you dont know if Leona is really a 'you' type of character, but you gotta think of how you would really feel of having her in adult situations with people you dont know. Having restrictions is probably a good idea so that you can make sure its something you would approve of.

It's all on how it makes you feel to think of that art existing. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or feels. Your character, your choice.

That said, I have adult art, some of it the 'random guy' type of one fersona (Shekat), while with the other (Wolfkat) adult art isn't strictly forbidden, I'm very spesific what situations she's in and they aren't many.

It would depend on who was asking, and who they would be with. none of my characters are 'me", but i am fairly protective of them.

I'm single, but if I had a lioness as my girlfriend, I would allow her to get art with others. It is more of a question of being informed before she gets art so I have a heads up. At least then I can change my mind if for what ever reason my views change. Now I just needs to find a single lioness ^^

It depends on you and who wants to draw your sona too. Personally My sona is a representation of me. I RP as them and such too. Its ok with my gf personally and I wouldn't mind it if he was in art. but in your case I would say it would be ok, but Only with cretin artists and characters.

I think you could get commisssions without having to do this, so if it's a money problem, then don't, there are other ways. I've drawn Maquenda in such ways when I was younger because I felt less attached to characters, but now I do regret it because she IS part of me, not exactly the same but she is special.
