PC update update

I finally got my desktop PC back on Monday after work. I paid for the repairs, took it home, plugged everything in, turned it on....... and nothing. After several tries, I finally got a message screen saying that boot-up had failed, and would I like to do a boot repair, so I did. That finally got it going, only when it did boot up, it told me that Windows wasn't activated. So I tried activating it again. It didn't like my key and declared that my copy wasn't genuine. To fix it, go pay $lotsamoney for a genuine copy. It IS genuine, you great idiot! I still have the licence key stuck to the side of the case!
Anyway, aside from constantly complaining that it wasn't genuine and urging me to buy another copy, the PC seemed to be working okay, except that the desktop image kept going away. At the end of the evening, I shut it down properly, but I was suspicious, and I tried starting it again. Short version - no matter how many times I tried, it would not reboot. I disconnected everything but the keyboard, mouse and monitor, but that made no difference. Back to the shop on Tuesday.
It's Saturday, and I still don't have my PC or answers.
