Dragonball Evolutions

I just saw this movie and I have to admit... I really didn't think it was that bad. I'm not saying it was a cinematic masterpiece.. but it wasn't nearly as bad I thought it would be... much better than that Street Fighter Chun Li movie... *shudder*
The acting was decent for the most part.. they didn't rip the characters personalities to pieces. Of course I think they could have sticked to the how the character look a little better.. like Roshi being old and bald.. but at least he was still a pervert.
The special effects were decent.. they didn't look like something anyone could reproduce with a tutorial and 15 minutes in After Effects. The fighting was decent too.
All in all this was a decent movie... nothing great.. but nothing horrible either. Though I'm still miffed at the lack of Krillian. We get Yamcha, but no Krillian... what the heck? At least they left out that annoying fricking Puar.. and Oolong.

Goku is in high school.. tha tnever happened in the original cartoon so far as I know...
I LOVED the actors for Bulma and Master Roshi. They got their roles right, even if the actor looked nothing like Master Roshi. Piccolo was good too. I would like to see his character evolve more in the sequel, which will go into Z, if I am not mistaken...
I for one, am glad that they did not include Krillen. One of the early rumors was that Krillen was being replaced by an original character, who was a high school buddy of Goku's. Ugh! I'd rather just not have anyone in that role than for the director to insert some made-up character into it. Like you, I'm also glad they didn't CGI the animal pets. Neither Puar nor Oolong really had strong roles, even in the comic book. Including them here would've been unnecessary.
I'm guessing Krillen will be introduced in the sequel. He did not appear until fairly late in the Dragonball series anyways, so they could get away without including him here; although his character does become very important during Z, so they won't be able to get around it forever, especially if they make it into a series.
But yeah... I could see them bringing in Krillin for the next one... generally he gets a beat down and nearly dies and that inspired good ol' Goku to get mad and layeth the smack down upon whatever enemy their facing.
