Why will it end up costing you close to $1000? I got a top of the line gaming laptop last year from Lenovo for $650 last year brand new. You can find stuff out there for a reasonable amount of money!

If you're spending $900 for an ASUS it better be fucking gold plated. I don't reckon I know all that much either but I do know a ripoff when I see one haha

Something to consider would be to go directly through the manufacturer's website for ordering a new machine - with Lenovo at least (and I would be willing to bet most other manufacturers) they are always doing sales on their hardware. Plus you remove the retail markup fro places like Best Buy or some other store, you know?

Hm, I'll have to check their website. But my dad just told me about some place that supposedly fixes old computers, so I'm gonna try taking it there first and hope they can figure it out X(
