Convert Your Student Strat or Old 12 String into a Baritone

If you have an old strat copy that doesn't get played much, or an old 12 string with high action that can't take a normal setup, this is a great way to make these instruments useful and give them a new life. I have done quite a few of these conversions, for customers, for resale and for myself. These baritone guitars are tuned B,E,A,D,F#,B and are great from playing everything from rockabilly to jazz.
For electrics:
I can do this conversion on guitars that have a minimum of a 25.5" scale and a bridge with cast metal saddles. The 25.5" scale is the shortest I can work with, and the cast metal saddles are important because there is some metal working that needs to happen in order for the instrument to intonate correctly. You will also need to have a new nut carved for the instrument.
Electric conversions generally cost between $150 and $200
For acoustics
Older 12 stings that have high action, cannot take a setup but are too cheap to warrant a neck reset are excellent candidates for this. You will want slightly higher action for the baritone setup and the wider neck tends to work really well with the thicker strings. The bridge pin holes will need to be plugged, redrilled, and bridge pins refitted. You will also need a new nut. In some cases modifications may need to be made to the saddle as well.
These conversions generally cost around $160-$250
Don't hesitate to give me a call and ask me any questions you have about whether your guitar might be a good candidate for this. I would love to talk options with you. Phone calls don't cost a thing and my work is guaranteed.
