The Lion Guard: What about Kovu!?

Much is left unanswered as we get closer and closer to the air date of "The Lion Guard". And unfortunately one of those questions has been answered in the most heartbreaking way. As it turns out the much beloved character, Kovu who made his Debut in Lion King 2: Simba's Pride will... Not... Be returning in "The Lion Guard". Jason Marsden, the voice actor of Kovu, when asked if Kovu will be returning for the new series, replied with "Negative. But sword wielding Max Goof would be epic!".
More so, because of his follow up post: "Circle of life, my friend. Circle of life." one journalist from the MTV article seems to think they killed the character off!!! I personally don't know about that, more so he could have been talking about the exemption of a character Disney created, but hey I dunno!
