De-stressing.

I got a surprisingly good night's sleep last night after taking some steps to talk things out, relax, and clear my head. Upon waking up I realized how ridiculous this situation was and how irrational the tenant is being. Today she said she was too scared to ask us for the car to go to the grocery store. She could have gone last night when she took my car to work or she could... walk... to the grocery store... down the street.... That made me realize that this is either a game to gain sympathy or she's constructed a labyrinth with mental roadblocks and can't find her way back out. Nothing I can do in either case. This is no longer my battle. She still has access to everything she did before we told her about the deadline and I won't stop trying to be kind to her. We just need the room because things changed, as they usually do.
My body is still trying to wind down from being pumped full of adrenaline for the past few days and it'll take a while for me to get back to baseline, so I'm taking it easy today. The last thing I need is a stress-related health complication. I'm trying a few things: jazz, art, reading my Bible, meditation podcasts, responsible amounts of adult beverages. I'll probably switch to tea instead of coffee. What do you do to chill out? Please don't suggest anything that would spike my adrenaline even more, like League of Legends, that is counterproductive.
hope y'all are having a better day than me!

During the day chamomile tea, find some caring friends that love to talk (but NOT complain) and just talk to them. Stretching, exercise, and every time a negative thought comes your way, tell it "I don't have time for you". Drawing helps me too, especially if I'm listening to something while drawing. Silence makes my mind wander.

The sound is generated from rain hitting a tent which takes me back to when I would go camping with my family as a young child. The nostalgia factor does help.
I'm happy to hear that you got a decent sleep last night! It's always so draining to not be well rested! Sorry about the roomie still being a pain; but at least it seems like you've figured a way to handle it, now.
Another way I destress is by listening to sad music. I don't think it'll work for everyone... but it somehow makes me feel better in a way. I guess it's a subjective thing and if that doesn't work for you then perhaps something more lighthearted will help. I do listen to calming ambient music too! ;)
I think tea can also be a nice alternative. I tend to be a milk tea drinker, though. :3
The best way to de-stress that works for me is cleaning actually. I usually don't have a whole lot of messes to clean up, but when I need to de-stress, I pop on some of my favorite music or whatever I'm in the mood for and just clean. Makes you take your time, focus on the work at hand and no so much other issues. I find it to be really positive for me for several reasons. Cleaning just makes your living space look nice, even if it is just your desk or bedroom. I tend to feel great after cleaning because my area looks fresh and clean, things are organized and put away properly, and I feel I have more space in the end. It's almost good enough that I could sit back in my chair with a cup of chai and just look at it for a while and admire how clean everything else and feel good about it.
Just don't let it get into stressful cleaning. This tends to happen when you start cleaning an area or mess that isn't yours that just you annoyed and angry at someone for not being able to do something as simple as put their dishes in the sink or garbage in the trash can a few feet from the mess they left. Start with your own area and cleaning and see how you feel.
That's what I find myself doing most to de-stress. Pretty strange, but then again, I am as has been mentioned to me by several friends. X> Hope everything smooths out for you and you find that relaxed, happy state you need.
