Being Politically Correct

"Next time they call you P.C. remind them that U.S. history is P.C.: 'Settlers' instead of 'invaders.' 'Founded' instead of 'stolen.' Right..." -Simon Moya-Smith (Oglala Lakota)

based on a true story
"Political" and "Correct" is an oxymoron and should probably never be uttered under the same breath.
Another phrase I like is "get over it"
Mightily Oats (regarding his Church): “There is a very interesting debate raging at the moment about the nature of sin, for example.”
Granny: “And what do they think ? Against it, are they ?”
Mightily Oats: “It’s not as simple as that. It’s not a black and white issue. There are so many shades of grey.”
Granny: “Nope.”
Mightily Oats: “Pardon.”
Granny: “There’s no greys, only white that’s got grubby. I’m surprised you don’t know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.”
Mightily Oats: “It’s a lot more complicated than that—”
Granny: “No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they mean they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”
Mightily Oats: “Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes—”
Granny: “But they start with thinking about people as things.”
i always thought the phrase was coined to begin with to marginalize any kind of real morality.
i've been kind of puzzled all along that more people didn't figure it out, the first time it was mentioned.
better late then never, i guess.
the joke was kind of on people who couldn't figure it out because they thought it was a joke.
which is/was kind of an era, we can kind of hope may actually be ending.
i think more people are aware of more things then media wants people think each other are aware of.
of course you still run into people all the time who aren't.
people are always figuring things out, and then forgetting that they had, and then getting bitten on the tail by having forgotten, and then figuring it out again because they have to. except from those who don't, and those who don't forget.
i could say three kinds of people in this world
people who figure out what they forgot
people who don't
and people who didn't forget.
of course there are also those who don't want anyone to figure out anything,
because they think they get something out of not having anyone do so.
and then people who never figure anything out elect them
but i've never believed most people fail to figure things out,
just some people who don't want us to believe each other can,
to discourage us from doing so.
