I don't think Patreon cares enough to do anything about it themselves, specially with the whole people jump ship before the month ends bs going on... it is the internet after all xD
Also, I think the fact that more than 80%+ of the content leaked* is mature/adult rated would push the factor of "careless" x__X

true. idk the policies of adult content on patreon but at least its not leaking personal information tied to it

The inherent problem is with Patreon iself. I noticed a few weeks back that you can completely bypass Patreon's login security to posted content by linking directly to posted objects. Anyone can use the link without authentication :/

Artist already tried to dmca the site and when that happen the person running the site purposely dox, spam, and showed their info up on the site; like their real name, email, phone number, where they live before having to take that section down. The fact it' still up means A) cloudflare doesn't give a fuck. Or B) It was taken down (from what I heard) and somehow was up and running again.

Honestly, I'm not even bothered this may happen to some.

A significant portion exploit their FA user base by hiding their content behind an off-site paywall such as Patreon. Even commissions that have been paid for, they're just money grabbing. That's just scummy.

like i said, i dont agree with people who use patreon but if there are users who do, they can let them know theyre on this site

Some users can use Patreon right and still post content here like Spelunker Sal and Scappo. They're users I understand are 2 examples of how you can use the site right.

However, then you get users like Jay Naylor who pretty much are almost exclusive to Patreon and barely upload anything and of course when they're artists like him that have a history of being bad with people, that makes them using Patreon worse.

A lot of reviewers I know use the site but they do have special perks of getting special content out for donations. Do most users here that do this offer a decent number of perks for the tips?

the only perks ive seen are things like sketches and perhaps PDF packs but those arent really exclusive. you have to REALLY love an artist to find value in that stuff. imo patreon is just another abused website for content creators to strangle their audience out of large sums of money through obedience rather than admiration.

Yeah, I'd agree with that, I've found most of the 'perks' are pretty much raffles. $1 = 1 entry into a sketch draw every month, or something.

That's my issue with Aaron here on FA. So much content is locked behind a paywall on that site. I wouldn't mind if it was like just a one time payment pack since I would be willing to put out a bit of money for his art. However I am not about to go out of my way to essentially subscribe to an artist just cause he wants to be stingy about his art.

lol its true tho. if you're gonna do patreon but make your page on FA just a bunch of cropped 'pay to see' ads than forget it, you dont deserve an audience anymore. Either go make art as a career and get paid for it or take normal commissions from your followers. if you think you deserve more money than that for your 'craft' than it had better be of a quality that you can make it offline.

I'm really glad I read this journal and the comments below. Not that I have any part in profiting from patreon. My spirit raise when I read actually thought through opinions.

Also, I'm afraid posting the site works more like advertising than a warning. IMHO at least.

This is what happens when you want to pay-wall your fans, or treat it like your own personal Hardblush or other subscription-based service.
Also, I'd bet people affected and salty about this sort of thing probably also torrent music/movies, or pirate other things like games that might be DRM'd too hard.

I'm okay with artists who use Patreon to charge affordable prices for early access to stuff they're going to publish for free later anyway. But using Patreon as an exhorbitant paywall for what turns out to be mediocre art? That's just douchy.
