Round 4, Fight
TL DR
Goals Remaining: 3
Game: I flat out went too far with the profile research/code tinkering, finishing the profile system saving/loading and made it easily expandable as new unforeseen info of the future needs saving....
30 Pieces: Working on a few concepts, but still nothing uploaded yet due to scatterbrainedness from coding.
Website: No progress other then browsing website building classes on Udemy.
Long Versions
With the purchase of Maya down around the time of the last update, I'm down to 3 goals remaining. The game, the art pieces, and the website. Still riding on that high from last journal which is possibly to blame as to why I went in a different direction for the game's progress then my initial plans this time around. I'd wanted to expand the spell casting code a bit to get it ready for spell selections and casting controls. What I wound up doing was concepting and implementing a fully functional profile saving and loading system that is fairly easy to expand and add new bits into. It's all being saved out at the moment as plaintext and, while encryption does look quite nice and something I might add in in the future, I see no need for it right now other then to cause me headaches if I want to check the file generated manually. Next target is the rune/waystone field system and possibly the store/shop concept (uses currency obtained IN GAME, I will NOT be making money off of this project). In prep, I did a minor overhaul to the scene flow, but nothing too intense. Just some quality of life changes to prepare for some future content.
Speaking of future content, I've been doodling a bit on some concepts for the game. Namely, the intro screen. It's not much at the moment then the sketchiest of sketches, but I like the direction. Did continue playing with maya on and off as well over the past 2 weeks, mostly opening old files to see what I've still got and can pick apart to tinker with. Also trying to find a few scripts I used to use ALOT and having issues finding them. None of this was really high on my priority list though, so not a whole lot was done.
The website goal at this point is collecting dust, but I did take a look on Udemy to see if they have any html5/css classes. Got an email about a sale going on, but nothing looked like something I'd want to get into yet. I'm still wrapping my head around C# (though I think I've just about fully got the basics and then some at this point) and don't need to confuse myself by jumping into another coding/scripting language.
We'll see how things proceed, but, like I said earlier, still riding the high from last journal and now the new high of the save system. Time to keep the momentum going and get closer to another goal. At this rate, I should get at least 3 of the 4 goals done. I'm still kinda on the fence on the website at the moment just due to how the current web is changing. We'll see I suppose.
