How to fix Sanic

What was the last good Sonic game you play?
Sonic used to be my fav game franchise. It's sad to see the franchise become such a joke it is today.
I dont understand why fan think Sonic is about speed speed speed.
Sonic is uncontrolable at max speed. He bounce around all over the place and smack ass first into needle and stuff.
I dunno. What do you think would make sonic fun again?

FA+

And to make more Sonic games good is for Sega to get it's shit together, stop being paranoid and stick to a good idea instead of flip flipping to every idea they can think of.

As for the game...2.5D like klonoa or pandemonium on PSX
My top 5 games were as followed :
Sonic Heroes
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic and the black knight
Sonic and the secret rings
Sonic adventure DX
It's sad that Mario' s long time rival and friend is running by crappy business men who think cash before fans.
Money may fuel fire, but it is the air that breaths life into the flame, and spread the warmth to the character's world. That's why we have fans.
I also liked Sonic Colors. It's a good game that used high speed but was very forgiving with reflexes.
There's no real "fix" persay, Sonic Boom being envisioned as a sort of re-imagining of the series is okay. The show is decent for its target audience, but the games are just plain horrible. XD
Sonic 4: Episode 1 and 2 were good starts, but then they just never got around to making an episode 3 or anything. They always focused on what made his games good: speed, level design, music, boss battles, etc. Freedom Planet is a good spiritual successor to the series in a way because of that.
Until that moment comes, at least we got glorious Sonic R34. :D
There's good and bad stuff from both sides of the proverbial border of their generations. Maybe some of it just isn't for you is all, but no matter what there's a good deal of positive experiences. I feel like Sonic Lost Worlds on Wii U was the last good one I touched on. I may get to finish it soon, but I saw most of it played and I liked what I saw. Sonic 4 was doing alright, except it wasn't popular enough so they never capped it off with the third and final episode. Also, the games aren't always bad because of the developers, I mostly blame the fans. Because the fans on the whole are almost never satisfied.
Sonic Boom, the cartoon is just great!
Or stick to 2D, some games don't work as well adding a new dimension.
Not a fan of 2d platforming games anyway.
I got the Sonic Collections game or w/e it was called for the DS was...okay. I disliked the limited view, though, as it felt like ass trying to make certain jumps. Not to mention the non-linear movement through some of the levels got me confused more often than not.
Sonic Generations...I liked the 3d sections for the SPEED in the modern stages more than anything else, but especially being able to SEE WHERE IM GOING.
The 3D games have suffered for a long time under this "good enough" problem, where their first attempt at defining what Sonic is in 3D served as the mold for subsequent titles. That first attempt was very unenlightened in terms of what to do exactly with that extra axis of movement; you see levels that desperately want to be in 2D, full of boost pads and springs and static setpieces you get to watch Sonic traverse while otherwise more or less just trying to stick to a path with controls of wildly inconsistent fidelity.
Everything has been about being "in 3D" while constraining the player away from actually functioning in 3D, because they didn't know how to make a 3D Sonic game, weren't sure what they wanted it to be, and stopped trying to evolve after their first attempts.
What they changed was mostly gimmicks or themes rather than core gameplay. It seemed like they were starting to modernize and figure this concept out with Colors, Generations, and Lost World, but each time they've poked at the core gameplay, they haven't seemed to let anything good stick.
I'd say they need to take a hard look at what a Sonic game in 3D should look and feel like and iterate intelligently, building a good game rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater every single time they step up to the plate.
Oh, and maybe trying to depart from Sonic's roots as a marketing ploy would help.
Played it all the time with my brother. I guess I was more of a fan of the SNES where it was 2D and you could
have two player fun with your older brother. Nowdays its just all bleh and 3D-ish, with annoying stages.
It kinda ruined it for me... I miss the concept bosses(where you had to think if you ever wanted to take them down)
and marvelous, plain yet interesting adventures with emerald collecting.
WE NEVER. TALK.
ABOUT.
BOOM.
As for what I think they need to do to make a good "next gen" Sonic game is to embrace an open world sandbox level design. They'd need to be sprawling, so it'd probably be better to have a singular overworld split up into various zones with smaller enclosed spaces where Sonic wouldn't be able to make full use of his speed. Sort of a mash-up of spectacle fighter with a heavy helping of freeform acrobatic means of traversing locations. Some free-running/parkour esque elements, like running along or up walls, but needing inertial momentum to maintain contact with surfaces (with power-up's and equip-able items that make it easier). And a "speed time" effect for when Sonic's at maximum speed and momentum.
Controls could be fairly simple but deep and complex at the same time. Jump--nuff said. Agility/Boost/Dodge--a quick boost in the direction you're facing, or direction change in the direction you're turning. Spin--Staple of Sonic's moves since Sonic 2, sharply increases momentum and acceleration while moving at the expense of drastically increased turning radius. And Strike--basic attacks and combos, using in conjunction with other controls performs a variety of other basic attacks/combo openers, and finishers (Becomes a context action in certain areas where combat doesn't take place). Can have a lock-on and crouch with shoulder buttons.
All actions can be used in conjunction with other controls, ex: Jump, Boost = Boost Jump/Kickflip--you're basic directional double-jump. Strike/strike combo, Boost+direction away from baddie = Hit target, then rebound off them either to create distance, or to rebound into another target. Boost, Strike = A lunging opener to a speed combo. Fastest normal movement across terrain, Spin, Boost (at max momentum) = Gotta Go Faster, break the sound barrier and enter "Speed Time", a generous, but limited bullet-time effect where the world slows down around Sonic as he reaches top speed, useful for crossing large distances, special rush, flurry, and high impact attacks can be used.
They won't ever make it, but hopes keep us alive when they aren't being horribly crushed under the jackboots of reality!
