PSA: Sending notes asking people to buy things...
Until such a time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on. I received a note today from someone.
It was a message with a list of characters for sale...
This was my reply:
Okay sweetie, here's the rub:
I try to be nice and understanding of most everyone. I like to think that I'm a tolerant and level headed lady.
So please understand that I'm not angry with you, a person with whom I've had no previous contact that I'm aware of; someone who doesn't even have me on their watch list, nor are they on mine.
I'm going to give you a bit of advice, a friendly pat on the back of your head. (Like Gibbs gives to McGee in NCIS when he makes a rookie mistake.)
Don't contact people out of the blue and ask them to buy things/characters from you.
It's extremely poor etiquette.
Not only that, but it's a great way to get yourself blocked.
It also taints any further communication with 'Oh, this is that person that wanted me to buy stuff from them without even an introduction first.'
That's not a very good way to make friends.
I did not even look at the characters you are offering, as I suspect most who received this message did not. The reason being:
It's insulting.
Please don't do it again.
By the way, I'm not going to block you for this, maybe there's a lesson for you to learn here. I hope so.
Good luck in your endeavors, just stop sending notes to random people asking them to buy your characters. It's rude.
Sincerely,
Lady Willow
The moral of this story is: Don't ask me to buy your characters.
Don't note people with a list of your characters for sale unless they have specifically ASKED you to.

Do you get notes asking you to promote someone's art? I tend to get them once in a blue moon.
