HAY GUISE HOW DO I LINES?! [EDIT]
10 years ago
"We are made to persist."
Like, digitally. Good lines.
I was recently reminded that this is really why I don't fucking do digital stuff. I'm frustrated about this. SOOOOO
I'll accept information on either converting a scanned image into something acceptable or doing nice, smooth, stable, clean lines on a tablet with no original drawing.
Tell me "practice" and I'll fucking waste you. That goes without saying, but no amount of practice is ever going to accommodate for nerve damage in my drawing hand giving me shakes that my tablet responds to with more sensitivity than a pen on paper.
I know there's something you people are fucking doing that's making it easier for you to do digital work than traditional or you'd be doing traditional. So spill.
Please? =3
P.S. Pardon my bold speech, and understand that I know so little about doing digital artwork that apart from like maybe a working week total of just fucking around, I'm so ignorant I don't even know what good questions to ask are ^^;;

The tablet in question is an old Wacom Bamboo... it uh... I don't know where I would find a settings section for it if it has one owo
I know photoshop also has line tools, but they are more confusing and convoluted in my opinion. I am a huge fan of Paint tool Sai, it really saved me with lineart. I was never able to do any good on photoshop, I could never make the lines look sharp. Also Sai is a tiny program, so I can run it on the miniscule ancient windows vista running POS notebook lappy I have to use to make art right now. Also, if you are the type who pays for your programs, it is only 60$, as opposed to whatever photoshop is these days. I highly suggest finding yourself a copy. it's also quite an easy hack. /coughpiratecough/
I was told in the past also that flash has a feature that corrects tremble, as it is vector based and all, it would turn your stroke into the closest smooth line. I never experimented with that, as it's not so much an art program as an animator. but that would work great for lineart too.
I wish I had some diazepam, like in metal gear solid, the drug you take to fire a sniper with a super still hand. that would solve all our problems. XD I am unsure of whether that actually exists.
Anyway, good luck.
Sai seems to be quite popular, esp. for beginners. I already have a copy but my results with it have been less than stellar and like... it seemed to dislike big files so importing a scanned drawing and reworking it in SAI didn't seem like an option for some reason.
I have seen someone using a feature called "stabilize" and I keep wondering if that would help.
Diazepam = benzodiazepine = xanax, clonapin, and similar drugs that operate by suppressing the parts of the autonomic nervous system responsible for the fight/flight response, reducing muscle spasms and (their primary indication) alleviating anxiety =3
Thanks!
