Hey Penguin! Look, you're comics are really awesome. With some signal boosting and a good push you could always start up a Patron for larger projects.

I've actually thought about that. Im actually thinking of looking into how it works and how to set that kind of thing up. I even have a new comic idea that might draw a good amount of attention that people will enjoy enough to support. But I always wonder if Im well known enough to make a good amount with it. But hey, at least it could be something to give me a little to work with in the mean time.

Well I'm not good enough for the whole insane commission prices thing... but the large project thing wont be a big deal if Im unemployed LOL

I say you raise your commission prices and buckle down hard on doing them once your job ends. I make pretty good money on a good month with my commissions.

Other than that, Patreon seems to be something that helps folks, though I haven't started my own up yet. Only thing is Patreon seems to be a better source for well known or popular artists, so I personally don't know if even mine would do well at all. It doesn't hurt to try it out though.

You could also try out making a book (I did a Digimon porn book) and start up fundraising on Offbeatr to get orders in and if/when you meet your goal, you can get them printed by Rabbit Valley and send them off to your customers. You can ask RV their pricing range so you can calculate that into your fundraising goal and make sure you have a profit margin.

Buckling down and doing them would be no problem if I didn't have the job factor to contend with. So that wouldn't be an issue. The only thing is I think my commission list would shrink dramatically if I raised prices. But Im looking into patreon and I got to thinking that maybe with a combination of that and commissions it might do the trick. As far as what I'd offer to Patreons I could maybe offer like... early views of comic projects and sketches before I actually display them on any of my sites. That way I dont cut off people who cant afford to pay anything. But if you know any informative sites on that kind of thing Id love to know about them. The ones Ive been finding have been a little vague concerning the kind of thing Id be offering. Most of them deal with You tube videos and such.

As for the other suggestions... I will definitely think about them and see if I have any ideas of that nature. I really appreciate your input thank you!!!

has a person who mostly lives off of my artwork i can say don't expect a steady paycheck, some days I get a lot of work and some days I don't get any work at all, it varies greatly.
aside from the commission work I do on DA and FA, i do a lot of freelance commission work from other sites like freelancer.com and freelanced.com and some times on conceptart.org, depends on the job really. don't go for any of the low pay jobs like below 300 because they are generally not worth it. I also go on cragslist and look under creative or talent in gigs and sometimes there are jobs for artists there.I also make t-shirts designs and sell them on places like redbubble and teepublic. it's really up to you on what you want to do.
I know patreon is a really popular thing now, but i see it as unless you are popular artist with a huge fan base and draws something a majority of people like, it's most likely a wasted effort.

Well I know that even when was tattooing it was that way. Nothing is really certain in the art world apparently. I'll check out the freelancer thing... anything is worth a try... Thank you for the input its much appreciated!

Honestly, I suggest if you are losing a job that you look for a new one....to me furry art is still something that should be a "hobby" or a side income..
Its very inconsistent. Artists who rely solely on commissions to live, usually...don't do too well. (AKA beg a lot too)

See thats the problem... due to what is going on and the small community I live in I doubt I will find another job. So I'm really out of options. And my hubby is disabled and unable to get SSI so I'm kinda stuck.... Ive been looking over my options though and this is one of them

Is a risky move tho. I would suggest trying to find ways out of said community to another. I think its for the best. Maybe not now, but later.
