My mate was not "fully" part of the fandom before me, though always had a closeness to dragons. I shared with him my furry self an the fandom and it grew on him very quickly an he is now a proud scaley/furry. So I find it great having someone with the same hobby and interests as me. Would I love him any less were he not a "furry" no not at all as long as he didn't think differently of me for being one :3

In my personal opinion I would prefer them to be furry as I enjoy getting art of my fursona with my mates but if it comes down to the nitty gritty if you really love someone it shouldn't matter if they are or not.

I just think it seemingly comes down to whether they accept you or not as a furry and that is what has failed for me in the past

While its not a requirement, its a total plus. Honestly, I'd have been happy to just have my man accept my furry self. But I lucked out and met my amazing man at a fur meet. He's actually been in the fur community much longer than I have. IDK if he was into furries as a kid, but I've always drawn them. I blame disney. lol

Female and yes to the furry. I have deep connection to being a therian so the fursona of mine goes deeper to me than just being a sona. But, if my mate wasn't a fur idk how they would understand why I have wolves all over the place and I have a fursuit and everything. It's a hard topic because I have had mates that weren't furries and they treated me pretty poorly. I tend to have this feeling that furries tend to get other furries. I am female

my girlfriend currently wasn't a furry before we started dating but I showed her some stuff and totally turned her into a furry XD

I'm a female, and my boyfriend isn't a furry. But he goes to the con with me, and he checks out fursuit stuff with me just because it's something i really enjoy but he does not identify as a furry. I don't push him to be one because it's his choice if he ever decides to like it. I have no preference of whether or not he's a furry, or anybody for that matter. I still share my love for the fandom, and he accepts and enjoys hearing about it. A lot of my non-furry friends enjoy it as well but do not identify as furries or show relation to the fandom. I don't expect anybody to agree with my love for the fandom, but it's nice to have people around me accept it anyway.

Many have said it already, but I'm likewise of the opinion that, while it would be nice, it's not important that a potential partner be a furry themselves. However it would be necessary that they at least be accepting of my own interest in the fandom, as I am not going to hide that part of myself or disassociate with furries in general. =P

i wouldn't really care, as i'm not huge into the fandom (like, obsessively so), but they would have to accept that i do draw furry art and porn, and that a lot of people i hang out with are furries and i do like going to cons when i can afford it. equally, i don't think i could ever be with someone in the fandom that is super uber crazy obsessed with everything about the fandom and just goes over the top about it.

The significant other doesn't have to be a fury though, it would be cool if they are but if not then should at least be accepting of t.

Be nice if she was, but its not that big a deal. Makes going to Cons a tad awkward, but we've been together long enough that separate vacations aren't totally out of the equation.

My mate is not a furry but he still enjoys going to cons and seeing how much fun I have at them. He also has been a huge help in making some of my suits. And I really don't mind that he's not a furry I just wish at times he was a little more creative.

Female, and I feel it really depends on personal preference. For me my husband is not a furry and our relationship is great. I think it helps because he is a kind, smart and understanding person. The furry fandom is not his scene, but he knows it's important to me, and has been very supportive of my hobbies/interests/pursuits.
