There are certain animals that should be treated better than they are, such as cattle, pigs and other livestock. Their treatment is exceptionally cruel, and actually leads to them constantly needing antibiotics in order to prevent illness. These remain in their systems long after slaughter and actually help viruses build up an immunity to antibiotics in people after the meat is consumed. Not only that but the stress these animals are put through makes their meat taste worse, and the fact they're idle means it also has a very high fat content, and is less healthy as a result.

So I definitely see the need for people fighting for animal rights. However, PETA are not those people. The amount of hypocrisy within that organization is unbelievable. They claim to want to protect animals, yet at many of their shelters the kill rate is 90%, versus 60% for most animal shelters.
Add to that their obnoxious protests, and the fact humans are omnivores and have been throughout history(You could technically survive on a plant based diet, but its much healthier to have meat as well). Also, animal fat has been proven to help with anxiety and depression(Something I found out as a result of having to deal with both both).

So yeah, I wouldn't be against defunding PETA. There are other far better more reputable animal rights organizations out there.

Reminds me about a friend of a friend whose horses were taken away, thanks to Peta's actions. He sewed and eventually won his animals back. One horse was returned...horribly malnourished. The others were 'un-locatable'. Probably means died of starvation.

Peta...the people that break into labs to save animals from cosmetics. Then, when running from the police, toss said animals inside bags out the back of the getaway van...where they pretty much die, afterwards.
