Help me out creating a webcomic - answer stuff
10 years ago
So, it is too soon to make any promises, but since I've hit 50 watchers this quickly (which make sme happy), I did want to mention a few things.
I have been wanting to do a webcomic for a while now
So now I'm trying to get a feel for what you would like to see. If you're itnerested in my questions and ideas, stay a while and listen.
Ideas
My biggest idea is that I want to give the readers a chance to influence some aspect of the comic - rather than jus tbe idle bystanders. Two things have been a huge inspiration here:
- One being the Manga Battle Angel Alita, where readers can submit character ideas each month and the best get picked and put into the story as they fit - even as pretty damn important side characters, some with a really deep background!
- The other beign Warframe, where players participate in events to fight for one of several possible ways to advance the story. this makes for great immersion and competition, it's great. There has been more than one webcomic that has done something like this in the form of auctions, I'm sure. But I mostly remember DMFA - those auctions were pretty fun actually. I'll have to come up with an idea how to make that work for my comic. Votes? We'll see
Questions
So yeah, questions. The most obvious ones, obviously. But oddly unobviously worded. I'm confusing myself already.
- Do you like Game of Thrones (or hate it but are hooked anyways)?
- As far as fiction goes, is it fantasy or sci fi for you?
- Do you prefer seeing as many species as possible (essentially furries, if you will), or are you more a fan of a consistent number of mostly original species (i.e. Dungeons&Dragons, monster races included)? I essentially could ask: Wolf or Worg? Tiger or Charr?
- Do you prefer a consistent 6-panel webcomic layout or something more dynamic, like a graphic novel or comic book?
Final Thoughts
This will not be something that will happen over night. I want to create content that is both fun for me to make and fun for you to read and immerse yourself in. So I want this done right - even when I have the information I need, I still need a proper script for the most part, a website or blog to host this on, and a good buffer of comics ready so i can keep up a regular schedule for you.
But hey, this will be my first step towards that. So tell me your thoughts! Eventually I'll probably make a google poll when I'm ready to start and such, to get clear results. Hopefully then a couple more people will have flocked here too by then, each opinion voiced will give me a more clear picture of what my minions (yes, you) want.
