Hey Computer programmers!

I feel like learning how to code in a language is one of the most important things going into the future for young people to know.
I'm going to ignore the fact my boyfriend is a computer scientist and try and learn code behind his back so maybe one day I can shock him with like, a floppy pixelated dick doing the tango or something
So what language do you suggest a beginner to learn? Something accessible and not about to become outdated.
Any resources?

There's a lot of avenues to tackle, but yeah you could learn something like C first, and then once you've acquired the fundamentals of programming, you pick what you want to do.
To begin with, I studied and learned BASIC in my teens and it was great as a beginners language, but not overly useful nowadays. I built a few raycasters and a crappy shell, then moved onto C++, but stopped there. Out of all the types of communities I've been in, including the furry fandom and art communities, the programming community has been filled with the most toxic people I've ever met.
If you're going to ask a programmer for help, prepare yourself for self-absorbed elitist assholes who will belittle and destroy you from the get-go with vitriolic diatribes while they're proudly bragging about being so good at their craft that they could program a cure for cancer or something (but of course, not actually do it).
Don't let it discourage you though; I'd definitely be curious to see what you come up with!
No worries, I've been with a programmer for over a decade, I've learned how to belittle him through his own belittlement
