Eyyy, at least Bethesda is perpetually buggy. And their pc versions are usually lightyears better than most.

Day 1? Most definitely. At this rate people are just gonna stop buying PC ports of bigger games alltogether. The bad steam reviews ensures that even the less-informed masses will have second thoughts.

The depressing thing is that I'm entirely unsurprised by this. For starters it's Activision, and I swear they have a track record of bad PC ports, add in that half of the AAA publishers develop for the consoles first and then whatever port ends up on PC ends up being rather badly optimsed, either graphically or the controls (or both).

The few AAA titles that are better on PC are the ones that are active PC focussed, which at this point are mostly Strategy games, Civ/City builders, and The Sims...

Their ports were better a few years ago. It's become sort of a universal tradition to just forget about PC for some reason despite it being a big part of revenue. The only big game that's been released in recent years that was really good that I know of was MGS5.

The quality of ports has gone down, noticably, over the last few years, you're right. There are a couple of big ones that get really good ports (GTA V being another recent-ish example) but for the most part certainally lower quality. I dunno if they don't let the devs have enough time or funding for a PC port, or if they honestly just don't care, but it's annoying as all balls

GTA 5's PC port came out years after the console release and it got special attention along with it. I think this was partly a move to revitalize the game for what essentially looks like a second launch of the game alongside the touched up port for PS4 and xbone. I think it's a combination of both those things though. PC takes a bit of extra care to port properly. An amount of time a lot of publishers don't want to bother with in the known shipable era of game launches.

I get the impression part of it's due to optimisation. With Console you have effectively only 2 configurations of hardwear to work with, being the stuff in the PS3/4 or the Xbone/360, whereas the PC can be a configuration of..... prettymuch anything, hardwear wise, so it honestly just strikes as devs/companies going "can't be arsed" on some cases. If it's gameplay optimisation, that's a lot less excusable.
Either way, a bad PC port just makes the devs/publishers look like asshats, and it's inexcusable.

Exactly. PC can be a bit more time-consuming to optimize for that exact reason. Despite the fact that the games were developed on computers in the first place. I really do think this'll nip them in the arse eventually for the reasons I stated earlier.

PC version felt ruined by the PC-specific bolt action change.

Console versions felt ruined by the console-specific MP40 change.

But that's just my opinion.

No fan of shooters much myself. The only one I ever tried was "Metroid Prime" and even that was quite exciting in some way I usually feel a bit overwhelmed by the ego perspective thingy in games. Anyways, shame that it didn't become like you had hoped for. <:3

The Metroid Prime Trilogy was really great, and came as all 3 games for the price of 1 with controls updated for the Wii.

That's the same version I played. The pointing with the Wiimote is pretty cool in such a game. Like a lightgun arcade. =3

I knew I probably should have waited. But even AW's launch wasn't this bad. Treyarch has been better about the series as of late though. At least, when it came to the game itself....

I mean, with what I've managed to play it's good. I do hope it'll be fixed soon though. But with what happened to the Arkham knight port my faith has been a bit damaged.

Tales of Zestiria was a good port. Just saying.

I have to say that porting seems to have gone downhill, and the pre-order incentives are making people buy it at it's most buggy.

The beta played fine. Wonder if is it just a server overload from people trying to play it.

Well a bunch of things, but apparently they fixed a lot of issues with a recent patch.

It's basically titanfall without the mechs. More or less. Which isn't a bad thing.

I feel like it's distinctly slower than Titanfall, honestly. Feels closer to Black Ops 2 in speed.

I'm sorry, wait no I'm not. Its your fault and the so many like you that have bought into Hacktivisions same engine game mill. I stopped after Bl Ops 1. Same warmed over engine each time. MW, WaW, and MW2; They should have stopped after that.


And yes, they big name companies care little for the PC crowd. We're nothing but an afterthought now days. Its like they try to see how lil they can get away with doing for the port before the backlash becomes too much. GTA V opening day was a mistake esp thru steam. Buggiest fucking shit possible. It helps that Rockstar is at least releasing new content for free to keep things a bit fresh.
