Thankies! ^^ Yeah, getting a Dorey to dance requires a delicate combination of caffeine, friends/loves, shiny lights, the right music, and enough other people up dancing and having fun to get me past my shyness. And an hour or two to relax and just soak up the music before I can push myself to join in. But heeee it was good fun once we all did!

XDDD I'm glad you danced. Now that you did I won't bug you guys to dance again, I just wanted you to try once that mind-altering drug of strobing lights, sweat, and glow. Honestly, it really must feel like what ecstasy must feel like or something, I come out 4 hours later tired, dehydrated, and like wanting to snuggle and cheer at anything that moves! But not everyone's like that, so I'll let that be. :>

I had sort of experienced that before at past cons but never like this, having Azzy and Zel here with me. The entire con has been so much more special for that. And yeah, when you get that into the dancing it really does feel like a high. The music and lights already does that to me anyway, but when you're moving your body to it all it just... eee. :)

But no no. Don't stop bugging me to dance! Never stop. Keep reminding me to dance. I want to remember. :)

Heee! It's interesting, the size of ScotiaCon (I think it ended up being between 150-200 people) felt pretty much perfect here, so obviously a much smaller scale than something like AC and I really felt comfortable there. A bigger con like AC or Eurofurence would be a different beast to get used to, but I really really do want to get to AC someday. Especially if you can be there too. And I will TOTALLY leap out onto the dance floor with you and dance until I can dance no more. ^^

DUDE ScotiaCon was that small? OH MY GOSH that's SO sociable! That's the hanging-out-con, where you really CAN relax, take time between events, and get deep into panels and get to know people. I had a slightly larger Cloudsdale Congress ~260 people, over 2 days. It was perfect, lighthearted, and yet big enough that you felt like you were in Equestria/Ponyville kinda. Okay okay, now I'm getting a better image of what it must have felt like. GOOD that you had SC before AC.

AC is MASSIVE, it's a entire town inside a big city. You really are in a little furry country at AC, and all the establishments welcome furs like crazy, though you need your own pack of friends to be with--otherwise it can get lonely. It starts feeling like a 1-player version of an MMO. But if you have buddies, man you feel like it truly IS a different animal dimension has warped in, and that's FUUUUN. And the dances are HUUUUGE, and so fulla energy your knees will be hurting and you will be fatigued, thirsty and you will not be able to drag yourself from the dancefloor because THE NEXT AWESOME BEAT just dropped. X3

SC is fun-relaxa-social-con, AC is ALPHA-STRIKE-DO-EVERYTHING-NOW-NO-REST con. Indeed, they are different, but both are mega-inviting in their own way. :>
...BronyCon is even bigger, yet still fun, and is awash with memes and inside jokes like spaghetti. 8p

Yeahyeahyeah. :) And yet it still felt big enough to feel like there were a lot of special things going on, and like the hotel was effectively dominated by furries. But yeah, it helped things feel relaxed and intimate and you kept seeing the same faces and suits around, which meant you could actually get to know people a little.

Something I think I would like about a larger con would be more panels and greater diversity thereof (would love to be at a con large enough to actually have things like, I dunno, a dragon-specific meet and greet) but at the same time I hardly felt like I 'missed' anything at this con because there wasn't too much multithreading. I've been to Midwest FurFest twice, which isn't on an AC scale and I forget what it's population was when I went, but it was definitely a much bigger con so further toward that end of the spectrum. It too was a lot of fun, but I have a suspicion that my personal preference may always find me happiest at ScotiaCon-sized things.

That said, I REALLY do want to get to AC someday to see that end of the scale, and how the whole city seems to transform for it. I expect it'll half kill me, but I gotta try it out. ^^ And yeah, even at a small con I think being there just on your own can get to feeling pretty lonely. At MFF I had some roommates and new friends but no one I was really really close to and spending the whole con with, so it felt a bit solo.

For all that I had a complete blast at the ScotiaCon dances, I would loooooove to see what a properly huge one would be like. XD

It really really was. :) It takes a lot to get me willing to dance, but the con's atmosphere was perfect and having my mates there and... eee. It was very special. :)

Still never thought it would be me to nudge you into it...nor that I would be on my feet bopping along with (admittedly not really dancing...) the music first. Think this does just go to show how things work slightly differently here than in "normal life" don't they...

It does indeed evidence how furcons just turn all the usual rules on their head. :) This one especially seemed to... it just felt safe and comfortable enough that all of us could discard the usual masks and armour and just really be the dragons we are underneath, it felt like. Finally discard, for a little while, all the worries and hang-ups that keep our deeper selves hidden away from most people in day to day life.

Yep...even if for just a couple of hours in a couple of days for my part, at least a little part of the real Zel was able to.be shared. ...now he just needs to learn to dance.

*smiles* I thought he danced perfectly well enough for me. ^^ Though I'm sure I could use some development myself! Would be nice to learn dance moves beyond simply 'lv. 1 buttwaggle'.
