Undertale will break your heart, and then some.

Nope -- it's actually pretty damn good. I'll admit, I had low hopes before trying out the demo; the internet tends to do things like this. But I ended up being rather pleasantly surprised! This is one of the few games I really cared about this year, and I think the hype is actually somewhat justified after finishing it.

The game might be short, yes. But there is seriously an awful lot of thought that goes into the construction of each of the characters and their dialogue, the latter of which changes depending on what happens throughout your playthrough. The game remembers every single thing you do, down to the smallest of details.

The characters themselves are very much alive, and many of them have quite a few different facets to discover. (There's a reason a good number of fan works are marked with spoilers.) Even the mobs have unique interactions with each other!

I would, however, pay no attention to the people trying to compare this game to Earthbound. They are wrong.

I played it again, making small different choices, and I am amazed how this game pay attention to very small details.

Now, Asriel... he can be as evil or tragic as he wants... he has such adorable paws!
