Behold, I make noise!
I managed to get a key to the new furrynetwork thing. Not jumping ship or anything, I just wanted to control my name, however I have decided to put some of my stories on there.
One thing I will say, even though their UI is in its early stages they are light years ahead of FA when it comes to stories. There are a few features I would still like (ability to accompany the story with an image for instance), but most everything else they've got down. Uses markdown instead of HTML, better display font selection (and the ability to switch to a different one), ability to view as white text on dark background, or dark text on white background. I'm guessing they will probably only expand that feature list in the future.
One minor problem they have is anyone can view all content without being logged in, though I'm not really sure how big of an issue it is.
If you're interested in following me there for some reason CLICK HERE to view my profile.

If they don't, and all of the stories can be read without logging in, then there's nothing to prevent someone under 13 from viewing X rated material. If their Web server is based in the U.S (a Google search reveals that they're in California)., this can lead to some very serious legal problems.
A quick skim through the publicly visible artwork did not reveal any X rated material, although some of it was suggestive, so I suspect that they do provide some kind of subject rating system. In that case, if you don't want your submissions to be visible to the public, you just have to rate it "Mature" or the equivalent.
Many furry posting sites provide an option to "limit viewing to logged in members". Are you sure they don't?

p.s. the "furrynetwork" link in your post doesn't work. It has some extraneous stuff at the end.

They only have a +18 rating currently and you need to set a flag to view it, however there is nothing preventing people who are not members from viewing the material with a direct link. This should not be possible (yes, I have tested this).
As for restricting viewing to only logged in members, that doesn't appear to exist as yet. The only settings available are: changing password, if you want to view over 18 content, and blacklist stuff.
I'll remind them about the COPPA regulations.
