After watching it, I guess I don't understand what the world 'dark' means.

Watched a few seasons of it, found it completely insipid, childish, uninspired, vapid, and generally predictable as hell. Could not watch any more. It just felt insulting and well.. it was hard to understand why /anyone/ loves this show so damn much.

I can understand what you mean. Every time I hear why is due to animations and designs or something like that.

Really? The animation are not even that good, the designs are just redesigns of the original designs. It hardly seems very inspired.

I guess everybody just likes whatever they like, but I definitely do not get it at all and I tried to give it the chance.

Heh, I'm not the one who said their reasons for liking. But I like to say they forced themselves to like it to the point they truely became the brony they are today. Not sure, I try to imagine the reasons, but soo many strange ways.

Could be the world it is in.

I will say that MLP really set the bar for what you can do with a franchise that is known to be childish like My Little Pony and how far you can exceed people's expectations. This episode was amazing and very surprisingly dark for a show that is typically meant for children that's lighthearted, filled with great morals and with designs that are meant to appeal to children. I'd like to say that this is kind of like how the 80's series had moments that were unexpectedly dark especially the movie that had Tirek.

I'd say it's like the Earthbound/Giygas effect to a certain extent.
