Today was Yom Ha'Atzmaut and I am SO PISSED

Today was Yom Ha'Atzmaut. Or, to you non-Israelis, Israeli Independence Day. So, today at the Civic Centre we were having a party to celebrate. Y'know, it's not such a huge thing like Canada Day is here or 4th of July is down in the states, but I was in Israel last year for Yom Ha'atzmaut. They are a MILLION times more enthusiatic about it then Americans are about 4th of July, and that's saying a lot!
So, I was a little depressed, upset that I couldn't be with my friends in Israel last year, getting into a spray fight, getting kicked out of a restraunt, staying out until 3 in the morning just hanging out and having fun, nearly getting arested because we had accidentally left the area where we were allowed to spray each other because we were having too much fun to notice... y'know. Just, how do you top that?!
So, I went to this stupid thing at the Civic Centre, just so I wouldn't be a loser at home. And outside the Civic Centre, what do we see? Protesters. Fucking anti-Israel protesters. One had a huge Palistinian flag and another one with a megaphone shouting anti-Israeli statements. Most had signs saying shit like "61 years of depression" "What are we celebrating for?!" shit like that. Flipped them off on the way in. Fun shit.
But seriously, come ON we're trying to have some fun, celebrating the independence of not only our country, but of a Jewish State! And we're not even at war right now! How many fucking places are there for Arab Palistinians. Huh, try the rest of the fucking middle-East!!! And we don't even CARE if they're in Israel! We treat them like any other citizen!
So, whatever, these people clearly don't know the facts. They've never been there when Israel's been shelled or when there were so many terrorist threats that you were too afraid to get on a BUS. Yeah, my mom was raising her baby boy in Israel in a time where you didn't bus anywhere because you were afraid a suicide bomber would be there. I've seen the bomb shelters in children's schools!! I've seen kids who were traumatized by the 2nd Lebanese War three years ago! Israel's getting hurt too!
So, that's not even the worst part. Many of the kids were JEWSIH KIDS THAT HAVE BEEN TO JEWISH SCHOOLS WHERE THEY ARE TAUGHT WHAT HAPPENS ON BOTH SIDES. I feel sympathy for any civillian in ANY war. I feel horrible for all those people who died in Gaza. Jewish schools don't raise you to ONLY think of the Israeli side. The biggest shocker were that these were some kids my mother had taught! She could point out kids and say that she remembered having them in her class!
So, on the way out, my mom was saying how she was going to be a shit disturber and tell them about her days when she was too afraid to go on a bus and when she was in the army fighting for her country. I told her to totally do it, but my mother, being the chickenshit that she is, but rolled down the window and said, "May Israel stand forever!" Ugh, she sounded like a freaking Israeli extremist. God, I literally facepalmed. But some Muslim girl said, "You don't know what you're talking about bitch!" Facepalm. YES SHE DOES!!
I ended up lecturing my mother, telling her what she should have said, "Try living there when the rockets rain down and see if they're such a bad country." My mom was saying I would have caused too much shit. Uh... isn't that what a shit disturber is mother?
Anyways, I'm still peeved, because the funny thing is, Palistinians that are in land that has been returned to Arab countries have said that they appreciate being under Israeli control because they have better health care, they get education, they are part of a democracy. Oh yes, did I forget to mention that Israel's a FUCKING DEMOCRACY!!!

I hate some o' the kids these days, the kind that doesn't even ATTEMPT to listen to the stuff that, you know, you are supposed to learn. Seriously. I bet at LEAST half of the protesters there were only there so they could be part of a big group despite not knowing what's going on. They coulda just sit there waiting for shit to hit the fan and still think it's great, since everyone got hit. Fucking goooosh. >.<;
