I feel like Weasyl is a major underdog for furry art sites, because it's a perfectly fine site with a good setup, but it gets looked down upon for no reason other than not enough people use it.

That never struck me as a very viable reason to hate a site, unless they're just so reliant on commissions that moving to a new site seems like a bad move for business. But it never stopped me.

yeah same here, if the only problem is that not enough people use the site, wouldnt using and promoting it help solve that? it's a fact that it has better coding/layout than FA so wtf

I honestly feel like a lot of folks are just afraid to leave FA because they've used it for so long, not even the multitude of bad decisions here will keep them from coming back

Yeah, it seems like it isn't worth it to post there. It's a nice site and all, but there's almost no one there and it's a shame too. I use both, but it seems people just stopped using Weasyl.

i use both too, and follow at least one person who completely moved from weasyl and left FA and still makes as many commissions as they seem to need
and i'll keep using it too!

I use both, but have since stopped updating my Weasyl as much since well... like Angry_Koala said, people just kind of left. I think it has a great layout and it's an easy place to post works, but not enough people use it and others who come to the site very likely leave because of inactivity. It's a vicious cycle.

Thats what im saying, wouldnt prevailing in using the site despite there being not as many people there eventually fix that?

I hope so! I'm still updating mine in the hopes that it will eventually pick back up. We'll just be underdogs till then ;P

I have nothing against weasyl aside from the fact ot confuses me a bit but im sure that would be easily fixed if I spent more time on the site. I mainly just dont use mine because of lack of time and interest. The majority of my art nowadays is mostly commission based if its not for school so with weasyls lack of traffic currently I just haven't put much effort into fixing mine up.

I eventually still want to someday when I find the time though!

Because a new furry art site came out recently, so they are the "not FA" site now. I can't remember what it's called off the top of my head tho

As long as FA is still afloat, no other furry art site will succeed. Every single time FA staff have done something so fucking stupid that a ton of people decided to quit in protest, they always came crawling back because they just can't make enough commissions from other sites, since Average Furry Moron doesn't care about FA politics so they stay here.

I prefer Weasyl, honestly. It's a nice clean friendly-looking layout, and I don't feel ashamed to link people to my gallery there like I do here since so many consider FA strictly a porn site.

I feel you so much on all of this, and it really frustrates me, including the shame of linking people to FA (tho imo it seems like weasyl is pretty much gonna consist of the same content as FA tbh)

Like seriously why not use both if it's so hard to leave FA? at least that way the day FA (hopefully) dies, noone's gonna lose the artists they already follow since weasyl's there

Laziness, basically. "Why go to a new site when all my art, favs, and artists are right here?" It blows :c

Tons of artists are ending up on Tumblr too, which is well and good I suppose but I dislike the site for a variety of reasons (i.e. zero content-control. Once it's posted it's there forever, can't delete it, can't remove nasty/innappropriate/offensive comments)

I do my best to post to Weasyl in addition to FA. Still holding onto hope that it'll catch on someday when FA implodes, lol.

If crossposting to weasyl wasn't as easy as clicking the add-on in my browser I wouldn't bother tbh. I dont get hardly any watchers/veiws over there an not a commission yet. Im not super popular or have that much here but I do get some comments/favs/commissions here at least xD

Weaysl just seems dead to me.

Lots of people like Furrynetwork but uploading my gallery kept failing and it feels to me more like social media then where id post art but lots of people like it but ive only messed around a little bit in Beta.. I like some of the features they are trying to implement:3

I have no idea. It's pretty quiet and many people leave, but I love it there.
The main feature that I love is the built-in blacklist.

FA is the standard due to habit. It's like how people prefer Skype over other better chat clients; you're used to the interface, all your friends are using it, and people don't want the hassle of using both or switching.

The biggest migration from FA I've seen wasn't to Weasyl, but to Tumblr.

It's just how it goes.
