I knew there was a fur meet happening last night on Pearl St., and I also knew I wouldn't make it, but I was on Pearl later, looking for a still-open coffee shop as I do, and I wondered if I would see some lingering furries by chance. As it happened, I was reading in Star Bucks (not ideal, but it was still open) when a group came in sporting some tails and a feline head. They were hanging out and I was over in my corner and I thought about going over to say hi and ask how the meet was, but I also knew I wouldn't because shyness. So I thought, maybe if I get on FA and angle my tablet like so, they'll notice and come say hi to me. I knew they wouldn't -- why would they? You can't expect other people to overcome your barriers for you. But still, a man can dream. So it was a surprise when this latest crazy shyness-work-around actually worked. A friendly, obviously lutrine fellow asked if I was a furry and then high-fived me and then I got to meet/hang out with  kodywulf and crew for a while. Yey for extroverts! And stupid shyness work-arounds, I guess.
