Animal Sketch Studies
Hey all!
So I've been getting back into the habit of sketching every day before work, because I have been slacking terribly on this for a long time and my brain is covered with rust drowning in a sea of woefully empty sketchbooks. I end up doing a lot of anatomy studies of various species or animal parts just to get my eyeball to brainmeat muscles working. Stuff like this and this generally.
I'm not sure if anyone out there finds such stuff useful at all, but if so, is there anything in particular people would like to see study sheets of? :]
Just curious!

Of course I could rely on a fellow yeen to show me such a wonderful picture ;)
Also, the poor brown hyena hardly gets any love. I'd be happy for a bit of face time if I was of that sub-specie.

yeah our poor browny cousins don't get any love ;;

Spotted, brown, striped, Aardwolf?
Also, I'd love to see em when they are finished!

I would love to see more studies on animal bodies, mainly the torso. I struggle really hard with it, they always come out stiff and blocky in my work and would love to see how you break it down. c:
Thinking this as more of an "Aspiring artist" poing of view.
Their feet are very interesting, and so are their noses. And often drawn very wrong, like oversized dogs.
I like to draw a deer a lot, so it would be cool to see how a deer hoof would work for an anthro deer (bending and kneeling and such)
As for requested subject, animal heads and faces but from non standard angles.
Meaning top down, from the back, over the shoulder looking towards the muzzle, looking at the chin, muzzle, and throat from underneath. Don't know how doable that is, getting animals to pose just so, being up there with herding cats in difficulty level.
Thanks for letting us chime in on study ideas.
Feral elks? That could be a task to look further too,
heh, but like, gibbons, spider monkeys, gorillas or orangutans.
with propper proportions to their limbs.
You rarely see artists draw em with simian looking faces, much less with their crazy long arms and comparatively (to us) very short legs. I think itd make for some cool poses and stuff.
As for others, odd head angles and torso studies also seem to be tremendously helpful!
i loove your studies, absolutely *nod nod*
maybe Maned wolf
also hoofies have things called frog in them XD
lot of peeps dont know how to draw horse legs.
Otherwise, primates, flying vertebrates and teleost fishes would be interesting.
