A Possible Alternative to Temp/Permavore?
General
Not that they necessarily NEED an alternative; I find both concepts very interesting myself and were I not such a WEENIE I'd probably have killed off most of my characters months ago.
That said, it's no wondering why people avoid permavore (and maybe even hate?? I've gotten very mixed responses when I bring it up??). It's not an easy thing to indefinitely relinquish a character to become nothing more than some pudge on a pred's belly, let alone your actual fursona. However, I've been thinking over an idea that may quench somewhat similar desires without the actual loss of the prey: Predatory Marking.
Basically, the idea that a predator, through whatever means, eats their prey. From here, they can either digest them, full-tour them, absorb them, or entrap them for a while, WHATEVER. However, once all that is said and done, the prey technically escapes unscathed, be it through regurgitation, full tour, or reformation. However, in exchange for their life, they are given some sort of feature representative of who ate them. Horns, wings, markings, glowy eyes, twelve dicks, you name it.
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy fatality in vore just as much as the next guy (wow that feels weird to type haha), but I feel like this could hold potential for those who may not be so morbidly-inclined.
I was already planning on experimenting with this on my own, but the main reason I'm making this journal is:
A - Almost everyone I've brought the concept up with has found it quite interesting, so I figured I'd share it with you guys.
B - I feel like there are definitely some things that could need working out.
For instance, if someone is eaten too many times, they'd likely have a mish-mosh of a buncha random traits. While I figure it IS up to the 'player' to decide how they want their character to look, I figure it would make sense to have some sort of framework to manage which traits the prey receives and whether or not they... I dunno, overpower?? other marks.
IE: I get swirly chest markings from getting eaten by pred A. Pred B comes along and eats me, but their markings while different, would be in the same place. What decides which comes out on top? Maybe with a dice roll or something?
So yeah, any thoughts or ideas you may have, lemme hear 'em. I'd really like to see if this is something people are interested in.
Note: I apologize if the thought or mention of temp/permavore scares you, but please don't post any annoying 'UGH PERMA IS SICK YOU FUCKOS' sorta stuff. Like, seriously, I don't care in the slightest and will promptly delete your comment.
Note 2: I'm gonna feel like a god damn BUFFOON if this is already a thing (my apologies to those of you who have buffoon fursonas).

Sounds good :3c
...of course, my main five tends to alternative frequently, and I often put my old characters on the permavore menu if they're not holding my interest. ;3
So far, I've lost three characters to permavore scenarios, and I have 7 more to sacrifice to whoever is interested ~
I only have one sona tho...
I'm kinda new to exploring the perma vore kink myself, didnt realize how much I enjoyed it till someone I knew was permavored and I read the RP log.
I enjoy reading storys, Rp logs, or journals on the subject but never even pretend RPed 'the end' non-canonically.
There is a workable way to do permanent fatal vore too, if the person with the prey char has a chat they Bo longer want, or if they just make some character with the specific purpose of them being ended, it's a lot less of an ordeal than axing a prominent character or their fursona
For those who seek the thrill in having their character "owned" as hard as possible without having to deal with agreements like "I have RP-Killed your character now so you may never use him again", it's really a good idea.
Does stomach-stench count as a marking aswell? ;)
In a world where things like vore are possible it would make some sense those who could would get some kind of insurance against such a thing which is why my characters usually have soul stones that anchor their souls to it, and also reform their bodies as they were after a short period.
A side effect of this is that they also are protected against soul vore and they are bound to walk the earth so long as the stone remains, though if movies have taught us anything that's not necessarily a plus.
