Wasted Lifes:
Chapter one- A new beginning
Suicide.
the act or an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally especially by a person of years of discretion and of sound mind.
Sadly, this happens way to often.
And always to people so young.
That girl in the back of the class, who no one ever listened to, ended up taking her life last week, but you don't know why, do you?
No one knows. But there's still posters and flowers all over the school to remember her.
All this love, all these people that are there for her now, where were they before? When she needed them?
When she wasn't gone.
If just one person had said the right thing, maybe she would still be here.
Doesn't matter now, she's gone. Her life was wasted.
But, the question is, where do wasted life's go?
People that had their whole life ahead of them, but went to quickly for.....him...to determine whether they went to heaven or hell?
Well, you're about to find out.
The church bells still rang, with the faint sound of a few stray family members crying. Rain poured down, soaking everyone's black clothing, yet they sat still. It was as if the sky itself was weeping for the young boy.
His arms where folded across his chest, as he peacefully laid in the black coffin. The teens short, blond hair moved slightly as the wind blew towards him. A tall, skinny woman with long blond hair and emerald green eyes stood before the rest of the family, her face tearstained as she glanced back at her dead son, then back towards the people who sat in front of her.
"Caleb..Caleb didn't have to go yet. I didn't want him to. None of us did."
"Apparently he wanted too" a black haired teen muttered under his breath, annoyed that he had to be up so early for a 'stupid' funeral, as his mother elbowed him in his side, glaring down at him, her face tear stained, with makeup running down her cheeks.
As the funeral went on, and the family said their last words to the boy, little did they now, Caleb was there. He could hear every heartfelt speech, see ever tear drop fall, since the sadness surrounding him, making his throat tight. In a tall tree, its branches bare and speckled with snow and rain, sat the teen. His blue eyes where dull, like the life had been drained out of them, but then again, he was dead.
Caleb sighed, pulling his knees to his chest as his older sister started sobbing, his dad comforting her.
"Mama, when's Caleb getting up?" Asked his niece, her eyes filled with concern. "He said he was gonna watch me tomorrow, remember?"
"U-Uncle Caleb is going to be asleep for a long, long, time, ok, Jessie?" His step brother responded, looking down at the ground with a grim expression.
"Oh...ok.."
What had he done?
He moved down his shirt collar, running his hand across the scar on his neck. He wanted to go back. He should of never done it.
"I thought they would be better off without me..but now..I.."
Caleb slapped his hands over his ears, clenching his eyes shut as tight as he could.
This was just a bad dream. It had to be. When he opened his eyes, he would be sitting at the dining table, arguing with his sister about who could beat Sans in battle, while their parents smiled and chatted about work.
He carefully opened his eyes, moving his hands away from his ears.
He wasn't at the funeral, but he wasn't home either.
What was this place?
The room was quite large, the black walls decorated with drawings, that where placed in white frames. They seemed to be drawn by young children, but there where a few by older kids it seemed.
Caleb shifted uncomfortably where he sat. A large white leather chair. This place gave him a bad vibe. But he stayed where he was.
For some reason...he felt like he belonged there.
Suddenly, the sound of a door slamming shut filled the teens ears. He glanced back, seeing a man with spikey black hair, and solid black eyes walking towards the desk sitting in front of him, not even bothering to look towards Caleb. He wore a suit, and carried clipboards and folders in his hands.
"Catherine, Tell him he will have to wait. This isn't as easy as he thinks. Unlike him, I don't just have to look through their life and decide what they deserve, I actually have to CARE for ALL these people, regardless of their life." He snapped, pressing a small button on his Bluetooth to end the call. His voice was deep and rough, but yet calming at the same time. He went over to his desk, sitting at the large chair across from Caleb.
"Alright, I don't have much time, so make it-"
The unknown male glanced up at Caleb, stopping mid sentence when he met his gaze.
"Ah....another.."
A warm smile appeared on his face as he sat down his clipboards and folders.
"I am Norowa Remashita. You may call me Noro, or Mr.Rem. May I ask your name, young one?"
"My name is Caleb." Caleb replied, not daring to look into Norowa's Dark, black eyes.
"So, how did you end up here? Murder, starvation, drowning, sickness...um...ending it yourself?"
He tensed, looking down to the floor and gently biting his lip nervously.
"I see. You would rather not talk about it. I will respect that then, Caleb. Now, would it be ok if I told you what this place is?" He asked, being careful not to sound to pushy.
"Oh...no need. This is hell, right?"
Norowa let out a small amused laugh.
"No, Child, not even close. This isn't Hell, nor is it Heaven. This is the Alterrealm. Where the wasted life's roam. A wasted life is a soul that went away to quickly, and did not give 'God' to choose where they went. They end up here. Death can be from anything, murder, starvation, sickness, suicide, etc. That's how you ended up here. You are a wasted life."
The blond haired teen let out a small sigh, turning his icey blue gaze back to Norowa.
"So..I'm stuck here, then? With no reason for me to be here? I'm not an angel, that can protect and bring happiness. But then, I'm not a devil either. I can't cause chaos and destruction. What am I actually good for now?"
"You will keep it from happening. I will assign you person after person, and you will stop them from becoming like you, a wasted life. If they are starving, you will lead them to food. If they are being attacked, you will fight the attacker. If they are going to take their own life, you will stop them. Although, you are new, so that won't be happening yet. You will need to be trained, Caleb. Once I find out your personality, and study your behavior, I will choose one that suits you best. Come now, child, and I will bring you to your new home."
