I've worked 30 hours contiguously, and to make matters worse, since it's like a 45-minute drive each way, I decided I couldn't make it into work the next day - being that tired would've led to an accident. Well, the boss used that as an excuse to fire me later on. (I at least was able to collect unemployment insurance after a dispute.)

He was one of those people who just decided how much work can/needed to get done without listening to reasonable estimates otherwise. A slave driver in other words.

I didn't learn much from the experience, as I eventually got into other jobs where I put in 12 and 16-hour days to meet deadlines. The US has a fear of computers becoming inoperable if technical workers form a union, so it's actually illegal for them to do so. This means this category of work can forever be plagued by employers who abuse their power and ask for impossible deadlines and as well do not pay an hourly wage (just a flat salary) for technical work. Is it any wonder why 3rd world countries are supplying more and more of this talent with this sort of abuse?

What annoys me in all of this is that the law *protects* such retarded bosses. The world doesn't need bosses it needs employers, major difference!
