Terminated

General
After working with the same company for the last 4 years, my employment is about to come to an end. I thought I'd mention that here for some closure, and hey who knows, this may be a new chapter in my life or some shit like that 8)
My old boss recently poofed and was replaced by this new guy who promptly fired about 1/3 of the old team. I hung on for a few weeks more but today was asked for my letter of resignation, which I refused. I expect to be given a notice of termination shortly, which is why today I also filed for unemployment benefits (LOL) while I attempt to jump-start my new career. Also on the bright side of things, I'll be getting my degree right around the time I'll be heading to AC.
SO! All things considered here, now I have some choices to make. I could continue to pursue a 4-year degree (possibly out of state, out in BOSTON where there's a publicly-funded arts college with much lower tuition rates than anywhere), orrrr, I can try finding employment here in Illinois, or maybe elsewhere, or maybe I could build my portfolio :V
HMM, CHOICES
Feel free to give me your advice if you've been there before, esp. for anyone who's taken unemployment entitlements, thx ;3

Good luck on your next leg, dude.
DO IT
THAT SCHOOL IS FUCKING BITCHIN'
I WANTED TO GO THERE.
DO IT SO I CAN HARASS YOU.
Shame about the job situation though, dude. :o
okay
I can't say much about the university, but there's an LJ community "http://b0st0n.livejournal.com" who seem to be quite helpful with questions about the city, even if it is primarily composed of self-important wankers.
i know of a few furs that went to boston art
attempting to drive in boston is not recommended ;-;
And that's shitty. Don't agree to sign anything, either! You don't have to sign dick stating why you were fired, that you're agreeing to it, etc.
Go to your state's unemployment site and read their terms so you can make sure your exit allows you to get benefits.
It is expensive, but imho worth it. I learned a lot more there than I expected, and I already had a BS in CS.
And now I have the job I've always wanted
(if it's anything cool btw let me know if you know anyone who needs a musician for handheld games; I used to do music for games in a past life lol)
Six months later...
"Hey, Skunkie. What have you been doing since you left the PO?"
"Not much. Work at a humane society. Hate my life."
"Really? That sucks, I'm sorry. I'm still on employment."
"Wait, what?"
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK
There're also private schools who give chunks of their endowment to students to cover tuition. Washington University in St. Louis does this, as do MIT and Stanford, etc. Check which schools here in IL do that and see where you get.
Failing that, just move to Boston and have a real life #ocs-fest with coda. :B
you know that cautioncat and opius and coda live there too right? :O
I'm actually in the Connecticut area, about an hour or so away, so that's as close as I know anyone from here at least. @.@
ruins the company and does something dumb to do it!
Still, I hope you can get hooked up with something good to make it.
I'm sorry to hear that's happening to you, similar politics in my workplace... Things seem to be rough all around. I hope you're doing ok <3 :3
I hope you're doing okay too ¦3
which is why I currently work as LAUSD office work (good pay lame boring work) and T.A at H.S
currently getting a degree for T.A maybe I'll head for Bacholars for Real Estate or just Masters later lol
I could say Try A.I But first time I went their everyone seemed a little to full of themselves and mad expensive x___x
Hopefully You'll get a great job, and everything works out and you get the class you want.
Alot of Art schools seem more expensive in LA lol
I might Try WestWood Game and design friend goes their lol
