Question for people who drive, especially Ontarians

General
- Did you go to a driving school?
- What made you choose the school?
- Did it help?
I have a class G1 license in Ontario, which permits me to drive with an instructor, or someone who has driven in Ontario for a number of years. I need to take a road test to get a class G2 license, which permits me to drive by myself, and after a year, another road test for a full class G license.
Now that my parents are here, they'd like to help me to get a driver's license. Unfortunately, while they've both had a decade of experience driving in China, neither currently has a license in Ontario. Since I can't drive to the test alone, I will likely need to rent a driving instructor and their car to the test.
I wanted to attend driving school anyway, so I can become a better driver, but I've been putting finding a driving school off. Perhaps I should just choose one that's closest to me. Ministry of Transportation approved beginner driving courses must have 20 hours of classroom time and 10 hours behind-the-wheel. But it's hard to judge the effectiveness of the instruction for me. Which is why I'd like to ask those questions, hopefully they'll help me to decide whether driving school is worth the tuition.

So they enrolled me in a school, and it wasn't really all that bad. Of course I learned to drive in Quebec and they handle things differently over there.
I've only had a single fender bender in 10 years. Boiled some water and popped the dent right back out.
Word of advice, learn how to drive standard. Even if you never use a stick shift again in your life, knowing how to use one gives you options when buying a car, and when you need to borrow someone elses.
