Wait, what's the new rule?

AUP Section 2.5 - Content that was not made explicitly by you that is used as part of your submission (such as free-to-use lineart, backgrounds, or royalty-free content) must cite its original source and be used with permission from the copyright holder. All permissions and copyright holders must be cited in the content’s description.

AUP Section 2.6 - Content that was neither made by nor for the uploader is prohibited, unless part of a derivative work (See Section 2.5 for more information) or a group that has permission from the copyright holder. All permissions and copyright holders must be cited in the content’s description. A group is defined as a user account dedicated to showcasing content of a chosen theme with others who share similar interests for the purpose of building a community and giving artists exposure.

So, basically, if I didn't buy the art or make it myself, I get thrown into a bin with a thousand other folks?

From what I read It is more along the lines of if you found an image on the internet you didn't make, and you can't confirm its origin. and then you put that image somewhere in your art be it in the background, or as a poster on a wall in a background you drew, or if you traced over a photograph or piece of art you didn't take, you are in violation of the rule.


All suspects are guilty until proven innocent. which is how it works in the real world.

people are legitimately worried about this. I've been using googled pics as my backgrounds for years, and have no way to go back and find the original sites

I guess what FA is trying to do Is make this site more focused. believe it or not this new rule actually reminds me of the operating practice of the VCL. This was back in the day when Furry art was nowhere near the level it is nowadays. They actually checked every picture that came through to confirm its quality and content.

I have no idea how they are going to check every single picture on FA.

I can understand your concern. and I would be pissed off if they suddenly decided to implement a new rule that is part of my fundamental art style.

This new rule is really harsh. I'm willing to stay around to see how effective it really is.

of course they wouldn't check every pic, but what I'm worried about is if one person flags one submission, the admins might look into the rest of the gallery and see more. I've seen them wipe out people's entire body of work like that, blanket-deleting everything because there was a bunch of one rule-breaking or bending thing in their gallery

Well here's hoping they don't do that, or at least give you a warning first. they gave me a warning for one of my violations a couple years back. I complied and it was the end of it.

I know I flipped out at the admins once, because they deleted a set of images I had from a game, of a character I made in it, and the reason it ticked me off, is no warning what so ever, and because of the age of the image and computer problems, I had no backup of it what so ever, so now the image is gone forever because of that.

on InkBunny the admins simply turn "off" a blocked submission. it's still there, and you as the owner can see it, it just gets blocked to all other accounts. THAT'S the way FA should be

Hold a second... Almost all the artist I've commissioned haven't upload the picture in their galleries.
Does that mean that i'm violating the rules despite i'm mentioning the artist on all my pictures? (because there is no source of the original commission file) O_o

Maybe the rule isn't retroactive? So art posted from now on will have to follow the new restrictions?
