A bit of laziness struck in the past week, but I've since repaired that! I've begun working on my epic story again. There's a lot of initial groundwork to cover before I actually make something tangible, but it's actually going quite smoothly. This morning, I've finished up getting reference links for each species present in my story, as well as charting out their preferred biomes, and even their origin locations as a species. Those are all things to take into account if your story is going to span multiple ages.
Something I might do later on, after the story has been running a little while, is possibly starting a Patreon dedicated to fulfilling donator requests. I don't know how Patreon works yet, but I intend to figure out. The idea with that is to allow people to donate non-substantial amounts of money as a way to commission me to write stories about certain races during certain ages. For example, if you wanted me to write about the Salamander origin stories, or the struggles that species faces in a specific era, you'd donate to my Patreon with a request for what you're wanting, and I'd write out a lengthy coverage of the relevant topic in a predetermined number of chapters. Higher donations would obviously be more chapters.
It's just a consideration, but it's a fairly big one. I wouldn't be charging a whole lot, which should go without saying. Here's a rough mock-up table:
5 Chapters: $2-4
10 Chapters: $5-6
15 Chapters: $7-8
20 Chapters: $10-12
25 Chapters: $15-17
30 Chapters: $20-23
These prices are based off a $10.55 book containing 19 chapters, a prologue, and an epilogue. Many long-running series such as cartoons, animes, and even comics tend to use filler to lengthen them, thus scoring more money in cheap ways. My intention is to avoid filler. There are probably many logical reasons for me to use filler to make more of a profit, but I'm the kind of person that feels integrity and honor are more important. That's also why I want to be at least semi-transparent in my progress, barring spoilers, of course. I hate spoilers...
To wrap this all up, I'm going to restate my determination to make this thing the best it can be! I have rather high hopes for this story series, and I'm going to pour lots of love into it! I hope you are all as excited as I am, though I know hype can't be built without an example! Soon. I'll have a sample very soon.
