Let's have a nice gay talk!

So here are a few things I want to share as thoughts with the world. Today, the greek goverment voted for the matter of cohabitation between citizens of the same sex. In my beloved and ruined country of Greece, there are many different opinions regarding this, majority of the voiced opinions are highly agressive and quite abusive if anything. Greek lgbt couples will still not be allowed to marry and still will not be allowed to adobt.
First things first: Why is a cohabitation important then? Simple: There are more to the world than emotions. A cohabitation will allow someone to share accounts, insurances and will protect the will of one of the partners in case of them dies. Neat!
Secondly: I keep hearing alot of things today. Among the best ones are the "This insane, unethical propaganda is what will ruin our children into thinking that all this could be natural" and "whatever did those poor adobted children do to deserve this?". As a gay guy, I won't tell you this is a blessing. For me, being gay is more of a burden and a curse than a bliss. Because of that, I had asked for help from a psychiatrist that's top in the field of LGBT issues (He is one of the only two in greece that evaluate genderqueer people and gives the ok for the surgery). I learned alot while I was there and I learned how it's not all so bad. Words are our weapon, most times, learning arguements is in fact our way to defend.
1) Is being homesexuality a mental disease?
No. It's not. The definition of a mental illness is that whoever suffers from it, cannot be an active member of the society without medication.
2) Is homosexuality going against nature?
No. People are born gay, it's a thing that had been happening since the ancient times and has nothing to do with how society develops or what kind of drugs and stuff exist in the air we breath.
3) Are people born gay?
Maybe. It's not yet 100% proven. 1 theory suggests that we go through experiences and "unlock" this sexuality as we grow up, the other suggests that hormones are created from the mother's womb that make the child identify the same sex. (this is all from memory, can't find good reference on the fly <_<)
4) Gay couples can't reproduce.
Correct. However, so do countless straight couples around the world. The more we evolve, the weaker our sperm grows and alot of straight couples ask for medical help to get their baby. That's not natural either, but apparently, it's no big deal.
5) Does a child need both parental figures to develop properly?
No. Why? Because ALL the jerks in the world so far were growing in a "straight" environment. There are also a huge amount of single parents who make their best effort to raise their kids as good citizens. It's not actually relevant.
6) Gay/lesbians can't do anything good.
Wrong. Laugh with Ellen DeGeneres. Admire Jane Addams. Read Oscar Wilde. Listen to Tchaikovsky. Appreciate Michelangelo. Learn from Da Vinci. Study about Alexander the great. Enjoy Neil Patrick Harris. Watch Sir Ian Mckellen. Wear Marc Jacobs. There is a bunch of great minds that did and are doing great things everyday and the people LOVE THEM. Focus on the positive aspects. We are all human beings with potential!!
7) This Horrible propaganda makes people think this is ok!
And imagine that if this continues, after the haters die, the rest of the world will actually be ok.
8) This goes against the words of the Lord (whatever god they believe in)
Most religions preach love. This is the fundamental ground for all of them. What sexuality involves is essencially love. First, God won't judge you for being gay or straight, he will judge you for being good or an asshat. Secondly, alot of things the "lord" has said have been altered over the years. Society evolves, so does religion. That's why we no longer trade women for goats as wives and why women vote.
9) What about the kids in the orphanage.
This will be speaking my mind ruder than usual. Whatever kind of a retarded uneducated moron would actually consider that a child growing up in the toughest conditions, struggling to learn things, yarning to be loved and being in a family, is better off alone at some place instead of a family? True, a gay family will not be the perfect family, but straight families aren't perfecter either. Those families are the reasons those kids ended up alone in the first place. If a kid was shown hatred, it can find some love in 2 moms or 2 dads. If a child lost their family, I am sure their folks will still be happier in the afterlife knowing that their kid is in good hands.
10)People will stare and point fingers and judge you when you are in the open with your partner:
Public display of affection was never my thing. But, so what if a gay guy can't kiss his bf in public, yet? They can kiss them at home. What changes is the image, not the essence. The essence is that both straight couples and gay couples love each other, wether they can show it to the world or not.
11)A gay guy will never love you as much as a straight girl (and the opposite of course).
This is not a competition and you can't measure love. I am positive that if its true love, anyone would be willing to even die for their partner, regardless of sexuality and gender.
Add things or talk about this @u@ Let's have a nice loooooong discussion!

Well i guess thats a big part. An i didnt mean to say sex is only for reproducing like i understand it being used for pleasure but i feel like a big chunk of the American population in particular rely on it as their almost sole form of entertainment.
And beer.
I could have a legal same-sex marriage now... we didn't have given legal coverage like straight marriage did, until the law was changed at the federal level.
I had a wife, I tried to love her...
I have ruined my own life, my ex-wife's life, and damaged my sons' childhoods...
I have been more attracted to men rather than women, for as long as I can remember...
I have kids, that I fathered, that I'd die for, if needs be...
I love guys, and I can admit that in full now.
I am Saved.
I could even donate blood now, unless I meet my online guy in person before I can donate, then I'll have to wait a whole 'nother year.
you should see how my ex-wife handles my kids, and then try to tell me that they need that in their lives...
though I may want to hug my guy in public without funny-and/or-hateful looks, I would way the risk against the reward before I did or didn't in a given location... church, not ever gonna happen, down-town maybe maybe-not.
I am fighting for my kids, have been for years now... though the legal system here in this state has made it clear that; they'll never take the kids away from her, or let me have them as things stand now.
I can't say that I'd die for my guy, but for my kids... give me enough reason, and I know that I would scare myself with what I may do.
Wait, u guys can donate blood ? In greece it's considered illegal to do for us gay folk
just as I said; I can donate, unless I get with my guy in rl, as than I'd have to wait a whole 'nother year to be legal to do so once again.
but I still think that it is a good step to finally having fair policies here.
Also ppl need to know that greece had a huge history in terms of LGBT back to their ancient times. just....ya I expect a European country to act better than the US at anything tbh =/
Greece had a huge gay history, that's true :x But even the patriots of golden dawn push that aside, saying "we are the true greeks, but nothing homo ever happened" xD
After all its not just in humans you find homosexuality in, its in the animal world too...and I'm not talking about furry characters
The only problem I could be concerned with is at school, some kids reaaally aren't smart and/or are litteraly like their parents, saying "This isn't natural and shit!" and eventualy they will bully someone because he has 2 moms or 2 dads.
Surely the school's educators (or teachers, or director, etc) can help on this, buuut... I don't think this is always effective.
So yeah, pretty gay question :V
but all the other things i totaly agree with it, im glad now gay couple are able to cohabitate together, is amazing and i hope they give a lil more freedom to you people out there.
these is a message of a bisexual wolf xD thanks for listening, also wish you a great holydays lil liz
And yes, I agree with you, it would be too hard for the children @n@ Our society should learn not to make kids bullies tho, instead of preventing adoptions cause of possible bullying!
and yeah i know, i wish that too, but until then it wont be good for the children, but thats not just for "homo families" but also families where there are drugs, famous and such, so i think, for gays is just a lil difficult because is more notorious
I'm surprised Greece is behind, I considered the country to be open and easy-going. How wrong I was :)
