Friendly reminder when uploading photos

Reposted (and edited) from a comment I posted in a submission...
When submitting pictures, if the file is too big in dimensions (namely more then 1280 pixels wide and/or high) the picture is resized, right?
Well, with the resizing the following information is lost:
- Rotation
- EXIF information (camera used, aperture, etc etc)
When submitting photos, I recommend resizing them manually to a height (or width, depending on the case) of maximum 1280 pixels, AND THEN uploading them.

One of my pet peeves is people uploading oversized photos. Unless detail is really important (like a group photo of fursuiters for example), it should be reduced.
Nope. At least not with the program I used to resize the pics.
Not that important I guess.
I do save an unedited copy of photos, in case I need them, should have the info if it ever comes up
My recommendation is to use a software called XNView. It's a multiple format image (and some audio) viewer, that has some interesting edit features:
- Crop, resize image, resize canvas, rotate, etc --- the usual
- Changing contrast, color, hue
- It can even use some Photoshop filters.
... and more
If you're interested, go to http://www.xnview.com/en/ and for the love of god get the regular version, not "XnViewMP"
Though sometimes MSPaint is faster on cropping.
I've downloaded XNView per your suggestion and will give it a try. Thank you.
