I agree with Seifer. You could even do a flat panel with only certain pieces in it shaded. For instance say someone is embarassed. The background and everything but them would be flat, and they would be shaded to draw the attention to them. Even shading only impotant details in a panel can make what you feel is important for the plot line stand out and can help keep us on the same page as you without a lot of explanation needed. Kind of like how they do black and white pics with only one or two things colored to draw you attention to the meaning of the pic without saying a single thing.
i always want to try stuff like that, but i worry about not applying ti properly, ya know o3o;; like for example, my committed comic, next page shes ina darkish room, so i dont know what would be fine to leave not shaded and what to shade ot convey the room is dark without going overboard o3o;;;
Use gray tones. Seeing as shadows are just darker versions of the color it can get hard quick. But using grey tones can convey desperation and hoplesness. Do the lighter parts using a 30-40% gray tone and do the darker room using 60+ so the character stands out and the rest is subdued.
i was told never to use blacks or whites exept on darkest and lightest points and to use darker colors of the shadow. will grey tony capture that effect?
Black and white are used in everything. It all depends on how you use them. You never see a sinister foreshadowed character clear as day. They use grey scale to make them more foreboding and unknown. A grey tone pic is just black and white. People still take black and white pictures. It makes the subject being focused on pop out wihout losing detail while allowing the background to not over power the focus. When using black and white or grey tones be careful because there is little to hide mistakes with. Black and white normaly convey stronger emotions than some other colors and can misdirect from the pictures meaning.
Sorry about the double post. I needed to jump on my laptop instead of using my phone for this one. Okay, yes, art school says never use black and white. That is because most people can't do it right. Their pictures become very hard to see, but if done right they become amazing 3D drawings. If you have questions on how this works I'd suggest doing a google search on one of my favorite artists, Hans Rudolf Giger and his work. Better known for his work on the Alien and Prometheus movies, very little of his work contained anything other than black and white. Even if there was another color used it was muted.
i forgot ot respond D: i try to shade in greyscale cause i have been told and seen ti works so well in eyeing values.i am very familiar with giger, and his art, disturbing but really skilled artist =o. thing is im trying to leanr color better, you know?greyscale looks os good, but alot of people prefer color >3<
agreed... emily comic panels are amazing, but for example, using the 3 that are already out
make the first panel plain... absolutely nothing happened of any importance except the intro
the third page is the most important, and that is perfect the way it is... the second page really doesnt need to be shaded like the third, but its a good filler page.
The best way to keep up with your comic is to create them in advance. Hold not them until you done at least 1 or 2 more. That way it won't feel so rushed and you keep a nice flow of uploading the comic! ^u^
that might work :D i always like getting suggestions and ideas and stuff from others, people have perspectives a individual doesnt ouo! its why multiple writers work on games ouo!
Awesome!!! I'll do my best!!! ^o^
I'm kinda exspecting her to go into school wearing that nappy! >w< Carrying with her all the emotions attached to that idea.
I think though we can assume no one noticed. Because normally, they don't.
I got some other ideas too, that you might be intrested in... =w=
I also assume you created other characters, such as friends, other students, teacher/s and whats have ya? :3
Use the comic to practice your skills. I like the idea of mixed it helps draw attention to things that matter and adds interest to the pages. But as you are using your free time to do this you should use pieces to expand your own abilities so you can make more on commissions by popping them out faster without cutting quality.
yus 8O i will prolly try to mix in shade and non shade, to speed up time ouo and i always try to use comics to draw things i dont normally or wouldnt otherwise ouo!

The picture at the top of that article. What strikes you about it? The vibrant face or the muted death and decay?
