Commission FA account?
As most of you know, I'm quite a commission freak and I do tonssss of them! The main reason is that my parents expect me to earn enough money to pay for my sister's tertiary tuition fee, and I really don't want to go to the berry farm to earn those quick bucks. That results in me having to earn money equivalent to or exceeding the income I can get from the farm, which is around AUD1000. I need to work quite crazily for that yup, but I think I still enjoy working on commissions more than picking berries...
Anyway, here's the problem, since I do so many commission art pieces, I feel like my gallery here is getting more and more cluttered. Most people are not aware of this, but I think that brand-naming is quite important to artists. It is essentially what you want people to see you as, what you represent and what your name reminds people of. Most of the time, when you mention "Haychel" in the art community, people would probably think of Pokemon and that is what they expect mostly in my gallery. Not only that, I am quite an organized freak so it's not really that great for me that there are so many different pieces in my gallery. I would imagine for some people following me, that would make it rather difficult since they probably want to see my personal art or something that my brand name promotes, not all of these commission pieces.
Ultimately, do you guys think I should clean up the gallery and move all the commissions to a different FA account? Or, should I not upload commission pieces that don't quite fit with my brand name here at all? (I do have a commission archive tumblr and a trello for those)

FA+

Either way, if you end up making a new account I'd follow it.
But I was mostly thinking of such for organization purposes and still keeping the content kind of separate for public viewing.
As for the types of commissions being posted, you don't have to post them all. Perhaps just the ones you feel comfortable with. But its hard to say without knowing what it is to begin with! Had FA had its thumbnail system working, this likely would have been less of an issue.
I'd personally advise on just sticking to a main one, and separating the pieces from there
Personally, I'd just browse your gallery as a whole since I love your art!
That's just my opinion anyway n.n
Also I look forward to commissioning you once again to continue supporting your financial situation <3
If people can't tell the difference between main or commissions account, they should learn to read :V, and also make your username for that account have your commissions in it or something. For example, my commissions account is
Sure, there are folders to organize now(I didn't have that luxury when I made that account.) but I prefer to keep all commission work separate from my main gallery, regardless of folders, so that's what the separate account is for.
All and all, it's up to you mate.
Plus, keeping commissioned work in your gallery also works to advertise not only THAT you're open for commissions, but WHAT commissions by you would look like. It's a win/win! So yeah, if organization is a concern, use folders to handle that and you should be fine :3
Though until you aren't sure, dont erase the commissions on this account, do it only if you feel like it's something that works out for you ^w^
It's not the same thing, but if you do it I will support you because of my whole debate of it.
You have your commission one, or if you really want to, make an account for all your pokemon arts, name it Leon's art pile or something. IDK
Honestly, I do not like the folder system.
Having separate accounts feels more... Organized and it's not that much trouble as others put it as.
But since you already have a DA and tumblr, I'm sure you're fine with going back and forward between the two.
I like seeing your furry submissions separate from your Pokemon (x
You can still open journals to stir commissioners to the other account and turn off notes for a while.
That way your watcher count in the other account will balance itself out.
Personally, I say that unless the commissioner would prefer it in the main gallery, and you're okay with it, commission works go into scraps.
one side effect is that your customers might feel offended by their categorization. like, they commission you for some weird fringey pokemon art, so you put it in your side gallery because you don't think it represents you in some way. then, that might make them feel guilty because they thought you really liked their idea. or you might take a commission that really perfectly matches your style, and you put it in your main gallery -- and maybe your other customers are sad that they didn't earn that special treatment. i guess i'm just saying it might offend some customers that you're placing judgment on each of their commissions.
the other possible side effect is it might pigeonhole you into drawing one kind of art. once you decide "my main FA gallery is mostly for pokemon", you'll subconsciously be vetting every non-pokemon idea to figure out if it fits here or not. maybe you're doing that already! so maybe that's moot
i agree with you, i don't think folders accomplish what you want here! i wouldn't go with folders. i'd either split or keep it together.
Please continue the awesome work!
One option is to use the new folders system, be is only a comission / pokemon duo or something more elaborate.. you could use your scraps as well... This is a small effort as you need tag all your galery to send where...
The other option is the juggling of two accounts... as mentioned by others, you may disable shouts and notes and foccus communicating via the main account.. The effort here is moving the commission work from one gallery to the other.. and (maybe) creating a new brand name for commission work..
either way I am certain most follow you for your art, on all themes.. ^.^
