I've never read the books, but the trailers for the series had this "Fallout meets Lord Of The Rings with a hint of Legend Of Zelda" vibe, so yeah... I thought I'd check it out. At least give it the three-episode litmus test...

Apparently the show is starting on Elf Stones (The Second Book) And in the book, they made no mention of it being a Post-Apocalyptic world

Well, in later books it IS revealed that "The Four Lands" are essentially a post-post-POST-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest... one of the first sweeping shots of the first episode is a moss-covered, fallen Seattle Space Needle.

And our heroes are Link, Zelda, and Obi-Wan Kenobi by way of Captain America. I'm diggin' it already.

The big question is... Where did the Magic Orginated and honestly, from reading the books about its old history... Its pretty a big mistake but at least its a good visual view

The books DO tell you... but since this series has been getting new books since 1977, this sucker is DENSE. I'm gonna let the TV series tell me, because I'd need a month in a secluded monastery to read all the Shannara books.

Basically its an adult version of Adventure Time lol

It's the ORIGINAL "Adventure Time," as the first book in this series ("The Sword Of Shannara") was published in 1977. "Elfstones" was published in 1982... hey, the year I was born! How 'bout that?

I'm still gonna call it "Fallout meets Lord Of The Rings with a dash of Legend Of Zelda." Wil and Amberle are reminding me of the Link and Zelda from the 1989 "Legend Of Zelda" animated series, and the Trolls of the Four Lands look like Super Mutants... and since Trolls in this setting are humans mutated by ancient nuclear holocaust that are now a true-breeding race, they basically ARE Super Mutants.

And Allanon is a Magic Knight badass. >w>
