I think he did a wonderful job doing Robin Hood.

This is a sad day...who will voice Robin in the CG remake? Kevin Costner?!

*le sigh* Remake? Ugh...the Disney Heresy strikes again. >.< You'd think with all the money they had sinking into their ILM branch and all them goodies they own they don't have a way to replicate his voice based on his role and be able to make it work with a new script.

Even in death of the actor, the character will always live on.

This was certainly a shock and surprise for me, too. If I recall reading his Wikipedia page, he was also a Shakespearean actor like the late Sir Christopher Lee, among big name actors too.

But I think most (certainly furries) will miss him for being the voice behind Disney's Robin Hood. :(

Not only that, Alan Rickman who played Severus Snape also passed away.

And he was the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

I remember well when Robin Hood opened...no joke....I watched it 4 times in a row. Bedfords voice was mesmerizing (as was Monica Evans...Maid Marian) and you are spot on! That was the first time Foxes were portrayed as the good guys. That had a HUGE influence as seeing myself as a fox type characters, decades before I heard about the furry fandom. I certainly owe him (and all those fabulous voice actors) a debit of gratitude

BTW, I still watch the DVD of RH at least once a year.
