Terrible terrible sleep schedule. issues.
I'm so sorry guys. I've been having productivity issues based around not being able to be awake during the day. as in, I've been going to bed at like 6 in the morning and waking up in the evening . forrrr. like months now. ever since the days have gotten shorter. I tried a couple days ago staying up 24 hours. got some things done. it was great. went to bed around 7-8 pm. awesome! then I woke up at 2 am. straight up. that is what happens when I try to go to bed before 4 am. seriously. then I am awake and then I get tired again and sleep and ruin my schedule AGAIN. Man it's bad.
but it's taking a BIG TOLL on productivity for me. as there are many things I can only do during the day. and I'm not getting much daylight for my health either. so I feel just BLAH.
I'm trying. It's SO FRUSTRATING. I hope I can get to straightening it out maybe tomorrow. wish me luck.
it's so odd. I can sleep like crazy when I sleep during the day. but at night my body does not want to let me sleep. even when I finally do get to sleep. I'm awake a couple hours later. but with no energy to really get things done and obviously I can't do any dremel work unless it's around 8am to 8 pm though I'd rather not try and push it to 8 pm. because of apartment living.
This also raises issue to being able to mail things in person like international packages.
UGH UGH UGH UGH UGHHHHHHH!!!!!
I have some melatonin drops but I'm unsure if they really work that well for me.
Anyhow I just wanted everyone to know, things aren't at tip top shape for me because of this darn sleep problem but I am trying to correct this as much as I can. things need to get a move on NOW.

FA+

you should be able to buy it at walmart wherever you live, that's where I got mine from!
It makes you tired for the time you ARE up! And depressed. And lonely. I get it. :(
I'm trying to fix it myself too to improve productivity but it's so hard x_x
My doctor prescribed temazepam, which is a short-acting sedative that lets you sleep but doesn't have the horrible groggy morning effects. That allowed me to reset my sleep a few times before I started the meds. Maybe it might help you?
some things I have tried that sort of help is when I wake up to try and just go back to sleep, or get up and push myself to work until I feel I've run out of energy a couple hours later and go back to sleep then, it's only worked a few times so idk, I hope you find a way to straighten your sleep out xD I gotta fix mine for a dental appointment tomorrow omg xP
it's a great way to reset your clock. melatonin is typically used for the same thing, especially for shift workers, pilots who travel a lot, etc. diphenhydramine is well tolerated even at large doses, but ya know.... unless you dont tolerate it that welly.
trust me... i do the same thing with.
it's only in the old pre-industrial age of artisans, where they were truly their own bosses and can sleep during the day. work your craft at night. etc.
but in modern times.... because of having to live with otheres... housework, chores and "house shit" as i call it.... it actually is better to be a morning person. you get more done. and people NEED to be clear and respectful of your boundries of time, and space. You got to be deliberate about everything you do.
it's ok to take 1hour catnaps anytime, but you can't let it slip to a full 8hour block and mess up your flow.
Vitamins are ok, not always that necessary. I just have an energy drink... or an Arizona Rx tonic, and that gets you most of your vitamins you can need. Also... i really do recommend a cheap Ginko Biloba supplement. it's very subtle, but statistically significant enough, that it really does help. Multi-tasking, and keeping memory stacks a little better.
I can get to be a workaholic myself, and... i got lists, and lists of lists of stuff... but when you complete something, you must take a break and reward yourself. When things stop feeling accomplished, or "never good enough", that's a problem.
Your work is awesome and I'm sure those commissioning you are more than willing to wait for the quality of work you offer. I don't have much advice sadly :( they are trying the same things with melatonin to try and tell their body to sleep. Anything that you can pinpoint that wakes you up? Maybe an uncomfortable bed or something?
I'm on winter break for a few more days and WHEW this sleep schedule is going to kick me in the butt next Monday.
So puching on for 24h to get it changed is not a good idea.
I'm in my exams now, I had been pushing myself for 2 weeks with no sleep half of the days and some more with only 3h and it doesn't work out, my body started to shiver once in a while, basically giving me signs that it couldn't keep up any more, with the result that I fell asleep on my desk before I could put my hours of work together for my final part of the assignment, I only needed 2-3 more hours but I fell asleep around 10pm at my desk, woke up in the morning when my alarm went off so I had no time left to fix it. Result = exam failed
So please, pushing on is NOT the right solution, if your body is tired listen to it, and try sleep medicine instead of working until you nock yourself out to fix your sleap pattern.
that was most of 2015 for me, starting to look like it will be a big part of 2016 to OTL
I've historically been a night owl anyway going to bed around 3 am, but that's been pushed to a more extreme version going to bed around 6-7 am.
although, the more exercising I do during the time I'm awake does seem to help me fall asleep later
in most of my experience, only a school/work schedule that is super early is the thing that (eventually) sets my sleep schedule back
godspeed on your quest
Before the electric light people like us were extremely valuable. There was always someone watching the backs of rest of the group. Someone was up and guarding for strangers and beasts all the time. Nowadays the ultra-capitalist system doesn't value someone like this, it's from 07:00 to 16:00 or die.
Sorry for the long speech! just wanted to say that x3;
Hope you get things sorted soon so that we can continue to enjoy your work!
