So I'm a Little Lost in Life...

Dear Reader,
So right now I really feel like I need to just vent a little. I don't really know where my life is going right now. I graduated college 7 months ago and I just don't entirely know what my career is meant to be.
I got a degree in television production with the idea that I want to be an editor. I still do...I haven't stopped loving editing. But it isn't that simple. They don't just make job listings for editors, you apply and bam now you're one. I recently applied to a job that was like that but it was a one in a million listing. It's so hard to find jobs in my industy and even when you do its extremely difficult to actually get in.
One thing I noticed in school was that there were all these people with all this experience and such and I just don't have that. Everyone had equipment and resources that I just simply can't afford. I fear the longer I am out of school the worse my skills are going to get when they already weren't that wonderful to begin with.
Recently I have been questioning whether this is the right field for me entirely. I really do love languages an interest that only surfaced itself for me a couple of years into college. But the problem with that is, I don't have the education or the training to do anything with it. As much as I would love to go back to school and learn more about languages and linguistics I just simply can't afford that when I'm already deeply in debt with the schooling I already completed. And besides even if I were to pursue that route I would hate to render all that work I did in school completely useless.
I just...really don't know what to do with myself...

In your case, you could probably put together some videos on youtube and start to attract some attention. GoPro and their various competitors and Red Bull are constantly putting videos out, and there are a number of extreme athletes who seem to be trying to get their attention, also putting videos out. There's a huge drop-off in quality of editing between the media companies and the athletes, too. What I'm saying is that there are a lot of really badly edited wingsuit videos on the Internet. There are also a lot of really badly edited tandem skydive videos. I think most dropzones just have their guys edit the footage together between jumps, not a lot of work goes into it. Perhaps you could figure out a way to make money from having people send you raw video and cooking it for them.
Anyway, dunno if any of that helps or not. You can get Kdenlive and Openbroadcast for free if you want to start poking at youtube video. They're not the best tools in the world, but it's hard to argue with the price.
