Do Artists Sell Commissioned Art As Prints and Such?

Do Artists do that?
And do you as commissioners think it's ok?
I have some pieces I think would look AWESOME as prints BUT I feel like thats hella rude to the fact they aren't my characters.
Opinions?

Thing is, yeah, the most popular one that people want a print of is
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17811356/
Which is the first commission I ever did for RayneFang.
Personally, I too, feel it is awkward to sell a print of something someone else paid for, and their character at that. I think for me, even if I got their permission, I would still feel weird because still, even gift art I do, people want to know if they can buy a print of it.
For me, when something is done as a gift for a specific person, selling prints of their gift almost feels like it makes the original less personal. Because then, instead of a one of a kind (As when I do gifts I take a picture or scan of the original, then give original to the receiver) Instead of one of a kind then, you just have people with copies hanging on their wall O_O
But I don't know. I am quite evenly split down the middle. I have a few tribals in my gallery I am quite proud of, (first time ever that has happened) and I think they would make good prints to sell, but I feel kinda awkward about it.
It is one of those "If the commissioner or gift receiver gives permission" Then I guess ok, but I'd feel the need to put a notation somewhere on the bottom that is visible so that those that have the print know who it was made for originally, like, "This character belongs to" So wow...thinking about it more deeply, I am at a loss at how I feel. Pretty conflicted both ways lol
I personally would not mind at all if I commissioned an artist to draw my sweet fursona Tali Misfit, and then, if the artist asked if she or he could sell prints of it, I would be fine. I think I would be flattered. My precious fursona? People are interested in making prints of my baby? My goodness I'd love it. I am quite proud of Misfit, as I created her species myself way back in my second year of 6th grade. She is precious to me, and if someone wanted a print of her, as long as they knew who the artist was who drew her and who the character belonged to, I'd be honored.
So, maybe, just maybe it depends on the commissioner! <3
I also don't really see myself buying a print of someone else's character (unless it were some really awesome high-quality piece that fit in with some of my decor lol), so I can't say much for the flip side of it.
