Doh! Well, to be honest, there are probably better first cons to attend, anyway (Fangcon being one of them), unless the travel is fairly minimal. This will actually be the closest con to me (at barely 4 hours of driving away), so it's not that much of a stretch for me to attend. The timing could be a LOT better, though, as I'll already be exhausted from the Texas trip, ha.

Only local one here is FE up in Toronto. Anything more than 3 hours drive would be far enough that I'd not consider it, BUT... even that is not easily doable because the cost of even just a few days would be huge.

This was another con I was tempted to try and make (And to a certain extent could still try and make since it's only one state up). I too like the idea of supporting a con in it's first year, the main issue I had with this one is if you look at it, it's actually an affiliate con to the larger Ring of Fire con, which is a comic convention. I haven't heard good things about furries attending comic conventions...something about anime cons are good but not comic cons. There's also just not many details about the con on their webpage, social media etc...may just be lack of staff due to it being in it's first year. I would also have to guess that fursonacon itself would just take place within a small section of the convention center, I'm a tad worried they may not have a headless lounge. So I feel it's a bit "risky" of a con to attend with current details, but if nothing else you can always enjoy the main con as well!

Yeah, these are all some of the very same reservations I had about attending as well. I know that they are combining with the comic convention as a means of both conventions saving money, but still, that seems like it has the potential to not go quite as well. Or, who knows, maybe it would be a blast.

That alone probably wouldn't be enough to stop me if it weren't for the timing of it. I mean, shoot, at $35 for registration even if it ended up being a bust Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a short-ish (30 mile) drive away, and I *know* I can have fun there. :P

Well, good to know that another local is considering it. Hopefully we can get some more information soon and make a better decision. Logically I realize that even thinking about going is stupid (I will be getting back from Texas late that Thursday night, so this would literally be getting home, going to sleep, waking up, going to work, and then driving to VA Beach that night for crazy times part 2), but it's still tempting, ha.

Don't forget about hotel too! I totally forgot Williamsburg was over there! Didn't get to go to that Busch Gardens on my middle school trip in 2003 LOL. I'm still pondering TFF myself, though if I can go I'm going to fly back on the Monday after it ends (Looks like you're planning a big Texas trip! :D). Mostly just gotta make sure if I do ultimately decide to go to Fursonacon I'm back home by the 21st. I've done crazier things myself, so yeah :P, but I definitely want more details about it before I can consider going.

Heh, yes, when I go to TFF I also spend some time hanging out with  edgewise as well (just like he does an extended stay when over here for FangCon). It makes the trip more of an adventure!

Yep, I didn't forget about the hotel, but there is plenty of stuff to do in the area and I imagine that the con will be fun enough that other distractions will not be needed. If I do go I don't want to use any vacation for it, so it would only be from Friday night to being back in town Sunday.

Ditto on the details, and (hilariously) one of the biggest details of all is, "Will there be a dance and can I DJ?" :P

Ha, well yes, of course. Going to a con and at least applying to DJ at it go hand in hand for me. :P

It's in/just outside of Virginia Beach (Hampton, I believe?). Might be a bit of a hike for you, but definitely driveable.

Yup, probably a good 7 hour drive for me. Unfortunately with everything else going on that month, I won't be able to make it.

Heh, why does everything have to happen in the Spring? It seems like everyone decided to do all of the cons around the same time period and cause these issues in the first place. :P

Yeah, I noticed that. Seems like all the cons are suddenly piling on top of each other this year. I know it has to do with hotel availability, but still!
I'll be doing FWA and definitely Relay. TFF is a strong possibility.

Woo! I won't be at FWA thanks to TFF (that's too much vacation to use so close together), but will definitely be at Relay (and can't wait!).

I'm hoping to swing things with my boss to work the following Friday if I take the Monday off, and then only use 1 day of vacation at each con.
