F#%^ing snipers

Seriously annoying. For those of you that don't know the term, it is someone who places a bid on a auction moments before it closes in order to win. It's a shitty thing to do.
What is really annoying is when the auction has sat stagnant for a couple of days and then it's ninjad from the highest bidder. Due to international timezones not everyone can be up till some weird time at night to make sure they defeat any snipes. I won't complain if it's auto bought because then at least the artist is getting their money for the commission but when it's done just so you can get it as cheap as possible then you're a bastard.
Here's my scenario. Put up an auction starting Monday. The end date for it is Friday at midnight. Usually what happens is there is a flurry of bids when it's posted but dies down after a bit. Then it may sit there until it is AB'd, expires or gets sniped.
My idea is add a extra condition to the auction. If no bids are placed for more than 12 hours then the auction closes early. This would have a couple of different effects. A sniper could still get to it right before the expire time but would at least have to keep biding to keep the auction going. They can't just let the auction stagnate for days until the last minute. The biding would continue with at least one bid every few hours.
This would mean a bonus to artists as well. If people don't want the auction to close early then they would have to make bids to keep it going right up to the expiry time. Mean s more money to the artist. If the auction closes early then the artist gets to start on the commission straight away, get the money faster and have the time to put another one together for faster throughput. So the artist gets either more money or gets more auctions. It will sound harsh but if the auction does finish early then it was probably going to happen anyway.
This idea won't stop sniping but it just means that they can't just let the auction stagnate and get out of paying artists what they are worth.
Sorry for the rant but just kinda pissed off that this keeps happening. I'll get back to making comics and commissioning boobs.
Ps.
I will admit to sniping once myself but admittedly i did it with 6 hours to go, not 6 minutes.

I'm sorry you feel this way, but I really don't consider bidding over an hour before the auction ends as sniping. Maybe the last 15 minutes, yes.
But that's just my opinion.
You be awesome Ki and I'm not mad at you are how you run your auctions. Just I am whining because I lost again due to a need for sleep.
