Infection and possible surgery
Past few months I've had a bacterial infection I've been fighting which finally has me on anitbiotics. It isn't serious and tests for what I feared was a hereditary cancer came back negative. I'm mostly drowsy a bit from the pills and will be till it all clears up. Been holding off on saying anything till I had the test results back.
Now for the surgery. Each year the vision in my right eye has been deteriorating. I have a rare case of what I originally thought was amblyopia in both eyes, but it turns it to be a bit more than that. What exactly does that mean?
It means I have monocular vision, or focussed vision through one or the other eye. No depth perception, eye strain headaches occur easily, symmetry is difficult, stairs are a challenge, and driving is (supposedly) a challenge. Since I have lived with it my entire life, I have coped and figured ways around it.
Correctional surgery was no longer an option by the age of 18 since by that time the brain has finished developing its connections to the eyes and thus wouldn't prove to be beneficial. HOWEVER. The MD I visited today brought up a new procedure that I could potentially be eligible for. I would be the second oldest case they have ever worked on (oldest was a woman in her late 40's) and I would be the first case to have the procedure done to both eyes. While it won't fix my vision entirely, it could restore some depth perception as well as help with the headaches.
It absolutely terrifies me. Eye surgery has always been a huge panic topic for me. But it could be an option to finally have a chance for normal vision, or at least a more normal vision.
I don't know the cost. I do know I would be out of work for at least 3 weeks so I would need to make double rent in advance.
I'm just mentioning this now in case if we actually decide to go with it, I can let everyone know well ahead of time. The surgery has me scared but hopeful. For the first time in 25 years.. I could possibly see how the rest of the world sees..

I hope the eye surgery is a go for you, Sharpe. Sorry to hear you're having eye strain headaches.
I have to wear glasses myself now for astigmatism in both eyes. I can see just fine without them, but for reading and night driving they help a bit...despite I can do both without the aid of glasses.
I think it would be a wonderful thing to gain better sight and to remove those headaches. If you wanna go for it, and if you are proven to be eligible, I've got your back. :)
hope everything goes well ^.=.^
Keeping you in my prayers and hoping for a good recovery from the infection and the surgery!
And I am prepared with pictures of all of the babbies if you need cheering up. Sheik has been really adorable lately.
And don't see depth? Weird, I think I see it perfectly
They told me it was just weird and that the worst part was that it itched after and that they couldn't scratch it or wash it. i dont know what your procedure would be like in detail but id you want to know about any aspects and their opinion i can easily ask them for you!
Take what it could be the best for you. What is 3 weeks of "rest" for a "life time" of be better?
I am only a name that come on the chat time to time but I wish you well, do not let fear get the best of you.
I'm sending you positive "energy", but you're a "fighter" you probably won't need them but they are there anyway. ;)
Keep up you're joyfull nature, that's always a ray of light in someone "darkness".
