Old Art

Sorry for all the sudden uploads, folks. I've been slowly working on recovering a drive that holds almost a decade's worth of my past, and one of the joys of sorting through it all is finding all those pieces that I had forgotten about.
Of course, the funny thing with that too is that I look at my old art and wonder why I've slipped so much. I've certainly learned a lot in the last several years. While my anatomy is far from perfect, several life drawing classes has improved my ability to portray the human form. Yet I don't like a lot of my newer stuff as much as I like my older stuff, even with its faults.
The only reason I can think is that going to school for animation forced me to think in simplified terms to make what I had to do for assignments work. I used to love doing detailed work, but I haven't done much of it in years. I'm going to have to force myself to think outside the "rules" I had to work within while at college. I just find it amusing that although college certainly helped my artistic skills in many ways, I look at my more recent stuff and feel like I've backslid. I'm going to have to start trying to fix that if I'm going to be satisfied with my work on a regular basis again.
