The only issue that's showed up in the last two months is this line on the right side( not sure if you can see it on the left of the image : http://www.furaffinity.net/view/18707556/ . I've cleaned it a few times but no help. I just assume it's tired of me traveling with it and it needs a replacement haha

That's stuff on the sensor bar/burned out sensor. Rubbing alcohol and cotton swab (and a very light touch), then an hour dry-time. (Clean the whole sensor though, if you can)

I just stick mine in the original box or pad clothes around it if I'm pressed for space. I've luckily never had a problem and I travel with it 10-15 times a year.

but yes, my room-mate is a baggage handler at an airport and they are not gentle. I've had my fair share of breaks ;n;

I've always stood by Canon's Canoscan series, love them! I have one that is 10, still works, though I have upgraded to my roommates which is a couple years old now. :)

I'm also in a position where I need to buy a scanner and have only read about it so far but I agree on the Canon LiDE! Another great alternative is the Epson Perfection V39.

It's a huge klunky all in one and the price tag compared to normal scanners may make you balk, but it is also the only large format scanner I have seen that isn't $1000. You can scan up to a large 11x17 comic page in one of these when most scanners are 8.5x10. I found that so annoying considering bristol comes in 9x12 standard. It is SO NICE to be able to shove a huge image in there and not have to play crop tetris to make it fit.

Thank you! Any larger size scanner recommendations are greatly appreciated. I usually prefer heavy papers with really smooth textures, so they almost always come in bigger sizes or in sketchbooks, so the additional room would be fantastic! ;v;

Yeah, even though it's giant I love the thing. I used to own a Mustek A3 but after having TWO scanner bars on the thing break (I replaced one, bar broke on the second one) I switched to the Epson, which also has MUCH better scan quality like Epson scanners do. Plus I use it to print shipping labels :)

I used a Brother scanner in college and I dig it. I went and bought one after I graduated because it worked so nicely.

i have a very reliable canoscan 8800F but i don't think it's made anymore. canoscan 9000f is it's successor and seems top have equally good reviews. my art college used high end epsons but that was a decade ago.

I've always gone with an HP all-in-one since that suits my needs better but the one I currently have is the HP Envy 5660 http://www.amazon.com/HP-Wireless-I.....ywords=hp+5660

I love the wireless capabilities of it, and the second tray it has to hold 3x5 photo paper, it took a little time to figure out the tray setup (to select the paper from the 3x5 tray vs. the regular tray) and if it was being really stupid I'd just swap the paper from the one tray to the other) but the part I like best is currently my desktop is dead and I haven't set up the printer on my husband's computer, but there's a little touch screen that you can use to scan and then e-mail the scan to yourself. This option doesn't allow you to adjust contrast or brightness, but the convinience of it all is beyond me. <3

I've been using the Mustek A3 2400 series for years. It's a large format (12"x18") that is reasonably fast and responds well. It retails from several vendors for under $200USD.

Oh! That sounds so awesome in size! It would be great to use large comicbook paper in the future. I'm always too intimidated when it comes to scanning huge things without a proper system. This sounds like a good idea. Thank you!

JUST judging from that I know that Epson lasts a long time, it's relatively big, not the biggest. It was ~$180 if I recall?
