An amusing turn of events.

So today was the day. Got to go to the doctor, find out the results of my blood work and see if he'd be willing to pull the trigger and start hormone therapy with me. Sat down, apparently he checked to see if I'd been vaccinated against Hepatitis A..I haven't. I also haven't gotten a tetanus shot in who knows how long >.> But that's neither here nor there. "I need to know if you want one." "Should I have one?" "Well......" grr! "No. I'm okay." "Okay."
"So your white blood cell count is high...." O_O. I had no clue what that meant but the tone of voice he used..I thought I was suddenly dying. Again, panic mode, just want hormones and to get out the door and start being happy and all that jazz. "Do you feel sick?" "..No?" "Feverish? Sore? Are you coughing anything nasty up?"
"I quit smoking nine days ago.."
"Okay,. Well that explains it. You were smoking. Problem solved! So. We ran your Testosterone and Estrogen levels."
Moment of truth, my heart leapt to my chest, 'just don't tell me my testosterone level is too high for this..' which I don't even know if that's a THING.. But he showed me a chart. Apparently there's an 'acceptible level' of testosterone and Estrogen in someone in a male's body...Oddly my natural testosterone production is so low it doesn't register on that chart...and my estrogen levels are already really high....
"So this is going to be a breeze!" I was informed. Apparently I was grinning like a fool because the last thing he told me was "I love my job because I get to see THAT smile every time I get to change someone's life. None of my other colleagues get to see this. Their patients NEVER smile like that."
So I'm officially on hormone treatments <3 Happy day.
