You might have seen the swf file of the big bronze cannon
being fired after I built a carriage for it. Now I have another
cannon that I'm refurbishing. Smaller one with a 7/8" bore
and a field carriage. The cannon was pretty rusty and the
carriage on the verge of falling to pieces so the cannon
got a through wire brushing and a coat of black stove
enamel and I'll be making another naval carriage for it,
mainly because it appeals to me and they're much easier
to make than the field variety. I'd really like to have
a full sized 24 pounder to park on the front lawn, though
I'm sure it would convince the neighbors that I'm totally
nuts, but they've suspected that for years.
